Hi all im plus size and pregnant starting bmi was 39.9. I've now gained a stone which I thought isn't too bad as I'm 32 weeks but saw my midwife this morning who said I shouldn't have gained any weight ideally and I should exercise more and look at slimming World.
Has anyone started slimming world this late on and what did I do to your weight did you lose or maintain? Think ill start Monday as I don't want to gain anymore x

I didn't bother, the average weight gain of pregnant women is between 8 and 22 lbs.

Can't remember what my start weight was (probably 17stone 10lbs) but I've lost 3 lbs since giving birth and am now 17 and a half stone (was above weight after giving birth).

Gentle exercise wouldn't be too much of a problem, but surely she should have suggested this at the beginning of your pregnancy, not 32 weeks in?

I know no one mentioned me losing weight at all at any point. My heart rate is resting high I've got to have a 24hr ecg done so I'm not sure on exercise point of view as I don't want to increase it too high my appointment is Monday coming so hopefully from there I can work out what to do x

Hey all I can say is Slimming world is really good and even though it hadn't been mentioned previously it may be something good to look into for yourself so you dont gain more or so you start on the path of losing weight before baby is born.. that's of course only if you want too no one can tell you if you should loose weight as I find its personal choice :) I've not done slimming world since being pregnant but i did before I got pregnant and lost over a stone it's rather easy and doesn't even feel like your on a diet.. in my Slimming World group their was a pregnant lady and she was losing lbs weekly so it can help xx

It seems like good advice. It’s true any woman with a starting BMI of over 30-35 shouldn’t gain any weight. The ‘recommended’ 8-22 pounds of weight is only for women whose BMIs start under 30. But don’t let it put you off - slimming world is really good during pregnancy. Their focus will he on healthier swaps and how to introduce moderate activity into your day, for gradual weight loss rather than huge calorie restrictions. So it should be easy to stick to afterwards too
