Leg cramps

Help! Am only 24 weeks but I’ve been getting bad leg cramps at night. This time, the muscle is really sore over 24 hours later. It’s a bit sore to walk on. Has anyone else experienced the discomfort lingering longer than you would expect?
Thanks

I had the awful leg cramps at a similar point in pregnancy - one was excruciating and the ache in my leg lasted for a few days. I think if you go for several nights over several weeks, it's probably worth speaking to your midwife.
I found that stretching before I went to sleep and making sure that I had drunk enough water was key. I haven't experienced them much the further I've got into pregnancy so hopefully you will be similar!
I'm 33 weeks now and haven't had the awful cramps for at least a month, only the occasional mini cramp that you can stretch out quickly before it turns horrible.

Thanks for ur message. I don’t remember suffering this much before so I must have forgotten. It’s another pregnancy symptom that is pretty unpleasant! I’ll try drinking more water like you suggest and stretching x

Hi OP I am 26 weeks and experiencing the same. If its not cramp it's pins and needles. I'm waking up probably 4/5 times a night and by which point I then tell myself I need a wee.... Its relentless. I did have it in my first pregnancy too though. Water does seem to help abit so give that a try. Otherwise you have my sincere sympathy 😕

Magnesium oil spray! Honestly! Had the same issue and dreaded it - bought this, rubbed it on calves every night, didn't get another cramp. A chiropractor recommended it

No advice but you are not alone. 35 weeks here and it can be excruciating and I can't walk properly the next day

Thanks all. Magnesium spray... where do I get that? I need it!
The cramps r rubbish. I wouldn’t mind, but still being in pain when walking 2 days later is worse than the actual cramp.
Will try the bananas for sure

Just a word of warning on the magnesium spray... (as I made this mistake) the oil by this brand isn't recommended during pregnancy, but the lotion is! You know it's safe as it has a pregnant lady on the bottle!

I've been taking Indian tonic water for this, may be a coincidence but so far I've been ok. Fingers crossed it continues.

Freewanderer · 10/10/2019 21:55

Thanks re magnesium info both.
I’ll check it out. And buy some tonic water. Would try anything to avoid more cramps.
