8 weeks bleeding - any positive experiences?

Hello.

I am 8 wks pregnant today and yesterday would have been the date of my period after the missed one last month. I got the exact same experience as getting a period; brownish light discharge a day or so before its due then heavier discharge/bleeding yesterday, enough to ruin my underwear and stick a pad on when realised. I have cramps too. I didnt have my first maternity appt yet so when I called them they told mr to go to A&E. While I appreciate they can only do what their guidelines tell them it felt like a waste of time. I was there almost 4 hours and all I got was urine sample and blood test and a prod here and there and told to call the early pregnancy helpline. A&E arent allowed to scan us. The doctor laughed and said he couldn't tell me if I was having a miscarriage or not. He said the urine sample was still positive for pregnancy but I know that can remain positive for several weeks after miscarrying. I've got my scan with the early preg unit tomorrow at 130 so not long to wait.

I'm just looking for any positive bleeding stories to maybe help me through the next 24hrs of worry.

Its baby loss awareness week Halo xxx

Bleeding at 8, 10, 14, 18 weeks, with clots bigger than the fetus was supposed to be at that time.
Just about to pick them up from nursery.

My mum bled with both my brother and I, quite heavily, on more than one occasion. We both arrived safely :).

Very heavy bleed at 7 weeks which lasted a month. Currently 27 weeks and it’s still
kicking away

I had bleeding (brown then red) and all was fine. They gave me a scan at 6wks to check and it continued on and off for another couple of weeks.

Is there not an early pregnancy unit there that can scan you? Can't believe the doctor laughed! You poor thing.

Best advice is to go an EPU. You really need a scan to see what's going on. It might be a hematoma (pain feels a bit like knife going through you) or could be M/c. Generally with m/c you might get contraction like pains. But really you need to be scanned to know for sure. There are many places offering private reassurance scans for a reasonable, if you want to avoid waiting in EPU.

Just want to say, hope all is well. I had a tiny bit of bleeding at 5 weeks, and had a scan last week. Very lucky where we are with helpful Early preg unit.
Do you know blood test results, i assume they did an Hcg test? there must be some numbers somewhere.

I bet the early pregnancy unit will be far more sympathetic to you and helpful xx

Have everything crossed for you

Thanks for the responses. The doctor at a and e didnt even tell me whether the blood test showed hcg or not. Just said he wanted to rule out internal bleeding. And re the urine test I actually had to ask if it still showed positive for pregnancy. If I hadn't asked he wouldnt have mentioned it. He was utterly useless and very young. I think he was just literally following the step by step guidelines of what theyve to do and didnt show any deviation from that. It wasnt comforting and felt like a total waste of time.

The EPU scan is tomorrow at 1.30 and yeah I think they will be better! The cramping has continued and bleed lessened although still there. It's as if I had a period for about 36hours and now starting to fade...

I'm trying to stay positive for the scan tomorrow but also to prepare myself for the worst.

How did you get On @NikkiandMini

NikkiandMini · 11/10/2019 23:06

The US today dated baby as 6 weeks but they couldnt see a heartbeat 😔😔😔. I've to go back in 7 days for another scan but expecting the worst now. Terrified and upset.
