I'm 37 weeks and had my sweep today, this is what the notes say: soft, posterior, 2cm external , OS closed.

I was with two midwives and both were surprised my cervix was so soft this early and just told me to keep.exprraaing, have a walk and have sex! They both were fairly positive but obviously nobody knows.

At my sweep at 37 weeks I was 2cm too with very soft cervix. Doc was hopeful it would work. The next 2 weeks and sweeps I was the same and hadn’t progressed at all until I went into labour at 39+5. But we are all different so you could go sooner. Goodluck

Thank you 1ice I guess it's all fairly arbitrary. They were surprised because even though he's not my first, it's the first time in labour.

Well hopefully things progress soon for you. I was fine but when the doctor told me that and suggested I could have the baby within days I got my hopes up and then became impatient.

My first sweep I was very favourable, soft, really low head to point midwife found it difficult to move past the head to the cervix, and was told I was a solid 2cm possibly 2-3cm. Had loads of mucus plug lost on the following evening and then s but more the next few days. Cramping the whole week with the odd really painful contraction. However labour didnt come on and I had a second sweep this week but failed as midwife this time couldn't get past the head to second layer of cervix as head was even lower which she was surprised about in terms of it being possible to be so low. First layer of cervix paper thin but no change to dilation. Since have had some blood loss and bits of what look like membrane like last sweep, and some cramping and backache but again not active labour. Feels like latent stage will last forever.

How come you're having sweeps so early? Shouldn't it be at least 40 week?

Rainbowhairdontcare · 11/10/2019 09:22

Because I'm attempting a VBAC they're trying to avoid induction/baby getting to big so that's why I'm having as many sweeps as possible.

After cramping and other random.pains still no sign of active labour :(
