Hi Ladies,
24 weeks today and I've got the dreaded piles... Does anyone know if we can use normal ointment while pregnant? Hot baths and cold compress is not working... Day 3 so far... TIA xx

Really feeling your pain OP (literally!). The usual creams are ok to use but get on the lactulose and eat as much fibre as you can, the one thing that made a huge difference to me was making the poo soft (sorry TMI Blush , thank god this is anonymous). It will give you time to heal and you wont strain on the loo and make them worse! Hope it clears up soon

I used anusol during pregnancy. It relieves the symptoms but isnt preventative; as PP said look at stool softeners to stop it happening again or getting worse.

cream can help a little and something to soften your poo. They might stay the same or get worse I'm afraid. They shld get better after baby arrives though.

I had them last pregnancy and to be honest even after 2 yrs they haven't fully gone away but are manageable. I got them checked at my 6 wk check up but nurse said they weren't too bad and they wld cut them off if I wanted but they cld come bk again or it might need an operation 😮

So I'm pregnant again and they r obviously worse now and it's really sore when doing the toilet and it bleeds a lot just hope they don't get really bad.

Cotton pad soaked in cold witchhazel directly on piles used to bring blessed relief when I was in your position

I use toilet wipes instead of toliet roll atm and it's helped massively. I know they aren't environmentally friendly but to be honest I couldn't care less right now! Lol
