Anybody thinking of having tubal ligation with c section

Is anyone thinking of having this procedure? Or has anyone had this procedure? I spoke with my obstetrician yesterday about it. She said it can't result in heavy periods and seemed more in favour of the mirena coil but she said I would need to have a general anaesthetic to have that done but I will be breastfeeding like I did my other children and not inclined to want that. The reason she said I would need a general anaesthetic is because I have had all c sections. I am really torn about what to do.

A general anaesthetic for the tubal ligation or for the mirena coil? I can’t see why you would you need a GA for either. Tubal ligation at CS is a five minute procedure done after the uterus has been closed. A GA for a section is more risky and is usually only needed if there isn’t time for a spinal (“crash section”) or if there is a reason you can’t have a spinal such as previous surgery to your back.

Sorry she said I would need a GA for the mirena, the tubal ligation would be done with my c section as long as internal scarring was ok to do it.

I had tubal ligation after DD 12 yrs ago, had CSection with epidural, they just checked I was happy to go ahead. 5 mins later was back in recovery. No side effects at all

I had more a fitted with good old London sir and a paracetamol when I got home-about 6 months after csection.

Thank you for your posts ladies, I am just a bit worried about the side effects of the tubal ligation but would prefer this option to the mirena as I don't want to have to put more hormones into my body.
