7days over and negative test...

So a few months ago we decided to stop 'trying' after 5 years and 6 years since DC1. I've not been tracking my cycle, and not DTD particularly often. I'm also quite old (post 40)
However, I've just realised AF was due about a week ago. It was some time end of August/beginning of September. Normally I have a 27/28 day cycle.

So I did a pregnancy test. It's negative.
What do I do now?!
I've made an appointment at Doctor for next week anyway as its pretty unusual.

Shall I just try again in the morning?
How long can it take for a positive test? With DC1 it was only about 2 days after due I tested got a positive result.
What else could it be? We're not using contraception so is possible. My dates could be a bit off, but definitely should've been due by now!
I'm not ill, stressed (apart from this now!) , doing sports (let lone too much!), or had any other signs or symptoms of anything else.

Argh.

Are your cycles normally regular in the 27/28 days ? X

Wellie89 · 10/10/2019 12:35

Yep always been regular 27ish day cycle.
I did another test this morning and still negative.
I guess I'll keep testing until get to see the Dr or AF turns up. I've started with the folic acid and avoiding the Sauvignon Blanc just in case, but not pondering baby names anymore!

Hi I'm intrigued to I ow if AF showed up? I'm going through the exact same just now! I'm about 12/14 days late

Liverbird77 · 23/10/2019 11:13

@WeeDinah I am in the same situation. First day of last period was sep 23. My cycles have become more irregular since ds, but they are always between 25-28 days, 29 on one occasion.
I am now on day 31. Got a bfn this morning. I don't know how long to leave it before seeing a dr

WeeDinah · 23/10/2019 11:35

@liverbird77 I'm just back from doctors, urine showed negative! They took my bloods but I dint get the results until Monday and she is referring me for an ultrasound.

Liverbird77 · 23/10/2019 12:54

I've read that sometimes hcg doesn't show up if it is twins...
I really hope the blood tests show positive x

Jessical1320 · 23/10/2019 13:20

My periods are usually spot on, I was due to come on the 19th October, I am now 4 days late and am bleeding but there’s not a lot like my period usually is, just wondered if anyone could give me a bit of advice? Thankyou x

Liverbird77 · 23/10/2019 13:52

It could be implantation bleeding

WeeDinah · 23/10/2019 15:03

@liverbird77 yeah my partner is a twin and he has twin uncles also then my dad has twin brothers and my mum has twin uncles so it on both sides of both families! I think she is sending for an ultrasound just to be on the safe side because iv had 2 miscarriages before that didn't come away natural and i ended up hemorrhaging and had to get blood transfusions. I didn't bleed to start with and nothing came away so she just wants to double check so I'm thinking she thinks iv maybe had an early misscarrige!! Iv had 9 miscarriages in total, I also have 2x DS ages 16 and 18. I dont think the bloods will tell me any different on Monday, glad shes sending for an ultrasound cause that will help put my mind at ease. She said it could be a possibility that I'm going through early menopause, I'm 38 btw

Liverbird77 · 23/10/2019 15:36

@WeeDinah I am so sorry to read about your prior miscarriages. I can't imagine how difficult that must be.
I considered the possibility of menopause for myself (I am 42), however it seems odd that of would just happen all at once. I've had really regular periods and my little boy is only nine months old.
Now you've said about twins in your family, let's hope that's what it is (if that's what you want).
I am going to leave it another four or five days and test again, then take it from there. I would just like a sibling for my boy, as I am an only child and don't like it. Don't care whether it would be a boy or girl.

BonnyE · 23/10/2019 17:28

This happened to me once OP. Ended up about 2 weeks late one month while TTC - so frustrating. Doc explained that occasionally you can just not ovulate so throws your cycle out of whack. Back to running like clockwork the following month for me. I do hope it's not that and you get a BFP as I understand how difficult TTC can be xxx

WeeDinah · 24/10/2019 10:45

@liverbird27 yeah I'm the same I dont care if I have a boy or a girl, just as long as the baby is healthy, if been TTC for nearly 4 years now but no such luck as yet! I miscarried this time last year then again in February.

Jenrobo · 24/10/2019 11:41

Just got AF after being a week late, I really thought I was pregnant and I'm never late but kept getting BFNs so I had that sinking feeling. Not to be this time :(. I had a lot of work on and slept poorly so I guess I was just stress-late.
But it's not unheard of to get a BFP later than usual, fingers crossed for you x

CatteStreet · 24/10/2019 11:49

This happened to me recently - aged 42, textbook 27-day cycle since forever, period suddenly over two weeks late apropos of nothing, all else normal, period normal when it arrived, straight back to the 27 days next time.

I have completed my family so was more concerned about being pregnant than not, but it must be hard if things are otherwise for you (have been there in the past with mcs) Flowers
