I've been advised that planning nothing and sitting around all day waiting for the baby to happen is a bad idea, especially as so many babies comes at 41 weeks or later.

I envision feeling quite uncomfortable though and would like to do something nice but easy to cancel!

Any thoughts or what have you done in the past?

Go for lunch, cinema, a walk.

Meshy23 · 08/10/2019 19:11

just going for a walk in the park 2 mins away from me and sitting on the bench made me feel like I was doing something on my due date (I couldn’t do much more than that due to baby having engaged)

On my due date I have variously been rushed into hospital with late onset preeclampsia, given birth, and cuddled my one-week-old. The first time I was due to see a close friend, who visited me in hospital the next day instead, the second time I was meant to take DC1 to the fair (my mum took him instead) and this time I had't got as far as planning anything, but in fact a mum friend who I usually see on that day of the week popped by.

I went to the beach with some friends for a spring swim, first of the year, being in the water felt fab!

My due date is new years day so we'll probably have a lie in (not that I can imagine staying up till midnight the night before!!) probably go for a walk round the park or on the beach, go out for lunch, maybe watch some TV - just a normal pre-children day off.

My due date is the day before my birthday, so hopefully seeing family, spending time with my husband. I went 8 days over last time so not holding out much hope baby will be arriving early this time.

My due date is Saturday and I think we will go for lunch and a nice walk, I think just getting out for a few hours will help x

A lot of babies come 37-40 weeks too, so it’s also likely you may have the baby by then. Whatever you plan make sure it’s near the hospital!

MW EDD is 5 Nov, I’m estimating roughly 11 Nov.

I’m booked in for a mani-pedi and my hair cut on 1 Nov, to kick start my mat leave!
That said, my antenatal group birth date twin gave birth on Monday, so maybe I should consider bringing those appts forward..!? 🤷‍♀️😬

Newyearsameoldshit · 09/10/2019 09:04

Is it your first baby? Anything you enjoy that will be a bit trickier soon! Lie in, long bath, relaxed lunch, cinema - assuming you feel like leaving the house.

Or you could make big plans and book tickets to something amazing, then your baby will almost certainly scupper said plans Smile

My second DD came on the day we were suppose to be at a wedding.

Hollywhiskey · 09/10/2019 09:11

First baby - I went to my work Christmas party. The day I was induced I went to the panto in the morning. The next day (when she actually came) we'd planned to watch the hunt move off and didn't go.
Second baby I had a sofa delivered and a friend came to stay that day and the next day, I think we took my toddler to the zoo. Baby 2 was born at 40+6 and I'd planned to meet a friend for lunch and go on a boat ride with the kids, husband texted her to cancel when I was in labour.

Flyinglemur · 09/10/2019 09:19

I was at home with my 6 week old (which was totally unexpected)!

Frizzy1986 · 09/10/2019 09:36

I planned the same as the rest of maternity leave. Nip to the shops, Netflix, resting, a nap. Instead I had a baby.

gkeal3 · 09/10/2019 11:10

I've usually had my babies by due date, fingers crossed this one come by due date too! 10 days and counting
