Has anyone experienced this? It doesn't feel like it's my bones if that makes sense, more the top of my labia (lips, sorry) area. Very sore rolling over in the night and walking, almost like bruising.

It's most probably varicose veins
Really common in pregnancy and Wil feel swollen and sore and maybe a bit throbbing

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 08/10/2019 20:27

Ah you might be right. I have them down there from my first pregnancy. I can't see them now as my bump is massive!

Sound like SPD to me. What a joy. I had it with both pregnancies from around 22 weeks.

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 08/10/2019 21:38

That's what I was worried about but I thought that that made clicky noises etc in your joints when you walk. Maybe I am getting confused. This feels like it's in my muscles (if I have any)

I have the SPD and its quite bad (almost 30w now) - the pain is down there, sometimes quite low and very strong when I turn in bed, or am getting up. I never had any clicking in the hips but the pain is barely bearable much the same. Please raise this with your midwife if you're concerned - can't hurt and she may provide some comfort with proper diagnosis and advice on what to do.

My cousin told me all about lightning bag the other day! Could be that 🙈🤣

Cherry85 · 09/10/2019 17:29

Sorry that was lightning vag not bag! And yes - apparently it's a real thing!

RicStar · 09/10/2019 17:30

Also think it sounds very much like spd I would talk to your midwife about it.

Tobycat1 · 09/10/2019 20:36

Really sounds like SPD to me, I’ve had it throughout my pregnancy. Speak to your midwife about it and they can refer you to physio. I got referred but have to say it didn’t help very much. The midwife was very ‘get on with it’. Sorry to say it gets worse and worse as well 😭😭😭

Scarletrose18 · 09/10/2019 20:53

I have the vulvar varicose veins too. It feels like burning but stingy pain, not in as deep as the bone but deeper than the skin if that sounds the same then could be that?

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 10/10/2019 07:49

I think I will mention it to mw when I see her in a couple of weeks. I'm not in agony but having seen many friends with SPD if it is that then I want to get ahead of it. Sigh. This pregnancy has been so much harder!

That is how my SPD started - sorry. Felt as though I’d been kicked in the vulva by a horse! Then spread to pubic bone area, top of legs and lower back. I recommend you look at support belts and ask for a physio referral (for which you may need to see your GP).

I would contact your midwife sooner rather than waiting for your appointment as she could do the referral without seeing you or tell you to make a GP appointment if that’s how you get the ball rolling.

Felinewoman · 10/10/2019 08:13

I have the same problem, sounds like your symphisis pubis. Got a physio referral from midwife. I'm 24 weeks at the moment... And if it continues like this I won't be able to walk by the end :-/. I haven't experienced this pregnancy magic that people keep telling me about, yetHmm

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 10/10/2019 11:59

Sigh. I think I may as well camp at the doctors this time Hmm never went once with Dc1. Fingers crossed it means I will have an easy birth as after an easy pregnancy it was rubbish the first time (please tell me that's real logic 🤣)

I have PGP and get this pain when turning over in bed too. In my groin, vagina and labia. Almost like a muscle strain / bruising. I think I have developed a varicose vein down there but can't see as my bump is huge. Other half says I look "normal" down there just a bit swollen. Lol.

I feel your pain. Could be a mixture of both PGP and varicose veins or could just be one or the other. X

Yummymummy2020 · 10/10/2019 14:41

I have had this too!!! I can’t offer you any insight on what it might be like the other ladies but I can say you are not alone with it!
