Hi I will be consulting my doctor Monday', however just wondering if there's any laxatives I can take while pregnant (30 weeks) as I don't want to stop my iron tablets as iron was low but started to make me constipated so rather than stop taking if I can buy something over weekend be great!
Thanks

Yep, there’s a few options. I’ve been on them since week 6.

I’ve tried several & I by far prefer Laxido/Movicol which is prescription only. It’s a sachet you mix in water (I add squash for taste) and one a day stops all my stomach ache and keeps things moving! When really constipated, sometimes I need two a day.

There is also Luctalose. Gives me stomach ache but works well for some. I once misread the instruction on the bottle (post labour) and took too much.. wow. Don’t do that. I took myself to A&E as I was in agony after being on the toilet all night and needing about 5 immodiums! 😂

Ps. Luctalose is over the counter!

I have heard that you shouldn't take laxatives when pregnant but stool softners are safe to take.
Fybogel has worked really well for me and can be bought at most supermarkets and chemists. Other ones are movicol and lactoluse, I haven't tried them but others have and it has helped them. Again you can buy them at supermarkets and chemists.

Liquid iron doesn’t cause constipation.

I was prescribed fybogel alongside iron tablets

Lactoluse - took it once every night whilst pregnant and taking iron tablets. Never made me rush to the loo but just stopped cramps / bloating and made me go once a day. Doctors didn't recommend any others during pregnancy. You can buy over the counter at a pharmacy or get it prescribed.

@newbeginningsyea**@newbeginningsyeah I never said I was on liquid iron?? I'm on a high dose of ferrous furate which does cause constipation! Liquid iron would
Not touch my low levels, I am
A nurse so am up on knowledge of tablets etc just not while pregnant as it's not something I specialise in x

@ameliathomas84 you misunderstood me, I was suggesting you try liquid iron as it won’t make you constipated! I am on liquid ferrous fumerate prescribed by the doctor and normally suffer from terrible constipation, but the liquid iron has not affected me.

Ahh ok to be hoe at thought I'd got away with it been on a week nearly but it's started not sure about liquid one though
