For those that have had an ectopic and suffered pain; did it come and go? Like over the course of a week?
I'm currently 6 weeks pregnant and I had horrendous cramps and a light bleed on wednesday but since then I've only had brown discharge when i wipe with occasional pink spots.
I suffered an ectopic in 2018 which was diagnosed after a week of brown spotting that turned to heavy bleeding (no pain), then a miscarriage earlier this year which again started with browning spotting which quickly turned to full flow of blood (mild cramping throughout). My pregnancy symptoms stuck around with the ectopic until my hormones dropped after having MTX, but with the miscarriage my pregnancy symptoms disappeared before the spotting occurred.
I'm so confused this time round as it was bright red blood and very pretty miserable one sided cramps, but no cramping since. So almost reverse signs that things are going wrong. I still have my pregnancy symptoms but they are very mild, especially considering I had hyperemesis from 5 weeks with my two successful pregnancies,
I went for a private scan yesterday at 5 weeks 6 days as I couldn't bare the waiting you have to go through with the NHS, but it proved inconclusive. The sonographer saw a sac in my uterus but described it as abnormal (it wasn't nice and round, and there was no sign of a yolk). She had a good look around and said she couldn't see any signs of an ectopic, but of course it could just be too small at this point.
I came away feeling slightly reassured that since there was a sac (albeit empty) at least that means there is less chance it is ectopic. However I've since read that you get a pseudo sac during an ectopic.
I'll be going to the EPU for bloods on Monday and I know that only time will tell what is happening, but I was hoping to hear similar accounts and their outcomes. My other half is supposed to be going on international business next week, which will be fine if it's a miscarriage, but it's ectopic I'd really like him around. I feel like I'm 3% hopeful things might work out, 32% hopeful (it is so wrong and sad that I should feel hopeful in this situation) that it is an early miscarriage, and 65% certain it's another ectopic.
I've trawled the archives but I'd love to hear you recent experiences!
