Placenta Previa

Hi, I just wanted to hear peoples stories of placenta Previa. I was told I have it at 22 weeks and I am now 29 weeks with it still completely covering my cervix and I have been told it is 'extensive' so larger than normal. I have had two bleeds so far, one about 22/23 weeks from sex and then one at 28 weeks just out of the blue. Can I expect more bleeds? If so is there anyway to tell when they're coming? Any help/stories would be appreciated 😊

I don't know the answers to your questions I'm afraid but I wanted to offer some solidarity - I am 30 weeks and being scanned in 2 weeks time to check if placenta still covering cervix, it was at 20 week scan. The bleeding must be scary. I've been lucky and haven't had any yet. Have you seen a consultant and gone through a plan for delivery?

Did they not put you on pelvic rest when they diagnosed you?

I haven't had a plan for delivery yet, all I've been told is I have my scan in a couple of days at 29 weeks to check where the placenta is, but went for a 4d scan last week and still completely covering. They didn't say anything about pelvic rest to me, after my first bleed all they said was no sexual activity and then after the second last week which was heavier they just kept me in hospital for 48h to see if I bled anymore and they just said that if it happens again to call an ambulance...

I had this. After a massive bleed the 3rd time, I was in hospital and my waters broke. A further bleed followed and they delivered DD at 29 weeks. She was in NNICU for 6 weeks.

Have they given you steroids for your baby's lungs?

Mine was the worst case scenario but I will say, I was in hospital over a fortnight and saw plenty of women with the same thing who went on to go full term. Also, at 29 weeks, even if they do need to deliver, the odds are on your side.

It is likely you will need a c-section if the placenta hasn't moved a bit by now but it can happen.

Just take it easy, take every bleed seriously, no matter how small, get it checked out.

I don't mean to scare you, I just thought I should share my story as it's important to know the risks too.

Good luck. I hope with all I have it goes so much better than it did for me.

@MintyMabel I haven't been given injections yet, they said if I'm in again they might have to. Was there any signs that you were going to have a bleed? My last one kinda freaked me out and I'm so paranoid I'm going to have another at any point. Stressing me o u t

I had this with my fourth pregnancy, my waters went at 24 weeks and heavy bleeds,
My waters would brake then refill themselves then brake again this went on every day for about 4 weeks I was transferred to different hospitals incase I gave birth and was close to the nicu,
They didn't realise until 28 weeks that the placenta was very low and after a major bleed they decided to deliver my little boy by emergency section at 28 weeks, he's a 6 year old little terror now lol,
