Dying hair when pregnant

I haven’t dyed my hair since my last pregnancy (ended in miscarriage at 9 weeks back in august)

I’m 7 weeks pregnant now and due back at work from maternity next week and I really need to dye my hair but I’m scared.

I know it’s fine but because my last ended in miscarriage, I’m worried.

Although I think this one will end the same way as I’ve not been feeling sick much today Sad

I’ve attached the picture of the hair dye that I’ve bought... come talk some sense into me

I personally waited to dye my hair until after the first trimester. I know it's supposed to be safe at any point, but I waited.

If you're worried, why not just wait a bit and tie your hair up or something ?

I didn’t dye my hair while pregnant. I know it’s supposed to be fine but if anything went wrong I’d have blamed myself and I didn’t want a stick to beat myself with.

I dyed my hair every couple of months in all three of my pregnancies and everything was fine.

Teddybear45 · 04/10/2019 14:52

I would wait until after the first trimester

Thanks all.

It’s so grey at the moment (I’m only 29!) any other ways I could cover the grey?

Get some of those root touch up sprays if you are worried. They cover well I use them all the time as going greyer by the day.

I dyed my hair through all of my 3 pregnancies. I used bleach though. The brown is probably going to be fine. If your too worried wait till 12 weeks.

Would you be happy to try foils and do it a few shades lighter? It will blend well with the grey

snowflakeeel · 04/10/2019 15:32

Dyed my hair throughout each of my pregnancies. It's meant to be safe however I have heard that it is your change in hormones that can have an impact on how your hair takes the colour.

iwanttomoooove · 04/10/2019 15:36

I dyed my hair with DD (7 months) but I think I used the lush hair dye and then normal hair dye after 12 weeks.

I dyed my hair at 5 weeks or 6 weeks with the last pregnancy I had which I lost at 9 weeks.

Had I not lost the last one I really wouldn’t be worried even though I know it wouldn’t have caused the miscarriage

I died my hair at 5 weeks and at 16 weeks pregnant. I am now 24 weeks and getting it done again tomorrow.
Are you able to go to the hairdressers to have foils? The dye will not touch your skin then.

They say the amount of toxins in hair dye is very low and it's not on your hair long enough to cause harm. Also if you do go ahead with it do a patch test first to make sure it will be ok.

Only do what you feel comfortable with. I'm sorry to hear about your previous lost Thanks

crazycatbaby · 04/10/2019 22:45

I personally would (and have done) but always patch test as you can be more sensitive when pregnant. But I'm a hairdresser and spend a lot of time mixing up colour and rinsing it off with no gloves on, so get a lot of exposure and haven't even though about it to be honest. I'm currently pregnant with m my second Smile

I think the chemical in dark hair dyes that was a concern was banned years ago so should be ok.
Deautiful colour, golden brownGrin Maybe put on the dye in a bathroom with fan, cover with plastic wrap or shower cap and sit outside or in well ventilated room so not breathing much fumes in
