hi all

i am 14+4 and have got past all the sickness. all i am left with is heartburn and a sharp stabbing pain under my right boob. it comes and goes about 3 times a day. i dont think it is trapped wind and it is driving me mad, not seeing midwife untill 22nd. i will speak to her then but wondering if anyone else has had the same sort of pain.

Have you stopped wearing under wired bras and have you had your breasts measured recently? If not it is probably due to an ill fitting bra.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 13/08/2007 13:14

Yes. I did.

It got so bad one day that the GP blue lighted me to the hospital (about 24 weeks I think). They checked for gall stones which I didn't have, and the pain slowly went away.

Never did find out what it was

does it happen an hour or two or so after eating (I am trying to remember how mine was and I think that was it)

pud1 · 13/08/2007 13:17

i think it does happen a few hours after eating. i often get it mid afternoon and early evening which would be about 2 hours after dinner and tea. some one else has mentioned gall stones to me

I get a pain under my right boob - last pregnancy and this one (24 weeks). I assume it's baby's elbow or something, although a bit early for you yet. Last baby was breech, maybe this one is too!

Hi there - I had exactly the same thing, and it was my gall bladder. The pain came after eating. At around 16 weeks it got pretty bad - for the next 15 weeks after consulting a doctor I had to stick to a non fat, non dairy, non meat diet - the pain did eventually go away on its own. The diet was pretty harsh, but it did stop me putting on any extra weight during my pregnancy!

it has got so bad not that i have booked a doctors appointment for tomorrow. it even woke me in the middle of the night

How are you today? Have you been to the docs yet?

NormaStanleyFletcher · 17/08/2007 18:57

any news?

pud1 · 20/08/2007 09:48

sorry its taken a while to come back to you all. doctor has looked at it and told me that its not my gall bladder or lungs. blood presure fine so it rules out preeclampsia.
have still got the pain. think i am going to just have to live with it

Hi Pud
Don't want to worry you but did your doc do any tests to make sure it wasn't your gall bladder. its not something they can tell just on a physical. What you're describing sounds exactly like me and I ignored it too putting it down to his elbow, foot, head etc until after ds was born then I put it down to post-preg settling down. That is until my eyes turned yellow and I was rushed in as an emergency. I won't go into details but I would ask for a second opinion, if it is gallstones, they can be managed by diet while pg and, if needed, sorted out after bub is here. Please please don't be fobbed off

hi Pheebe - he just sort of tapped around my ribs and got me breathing in and out. i am at the midwife on wednesday. will talk to her about it, i am affraid i am the sort to be fobbed off by the doctor. i just smiled and left the office non the wiser

Hmm, there's no way he'd be able to tell if it was gallstones just from that. Definitely talk to your mw
