Hello Ladies,
I really hope someone can help me because I am so so scared.
I am currently 7 weeks pregnant. I was trying for a baby for 11 months and I would say I have always wanted children. (I am 31)

Since seeing the second line on a pregnancy test my anxiety has taken a turn for the worse.

It’s telling me I don’t want this baby. I’m only doing it for my partner and family.

Has anyone else ever felt like this? I feel like I will never get better but deep down I desperately want to get better.

Any advice?

I am seeing my GP again on Monday and I am on medication

Well done for realising it's your anxiety.
It's trying to protect you from if anything happens because you've wanted this for a long time.
Definitely go to drs.

Thank you for replying! Monday can’t come quick enough. I’m praying between now and then I also get my referral through to see the MH team who specialise in antenatal care (I think it’s called perinatal but I might be wrong)

I felt the same way after getting pregnant with DS2, who we had been trying for 2 years for.
I suffer from anxiety too (it was unmedicated at the time but I’m back on the meds now) so likely a symptom of that.
He’s here now and is fabulous and very much wanted. Go to the docs and get yourself well x

Hi OP,
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
just wanted to say good luck and hope your visit to the GP helps!

I don't have anxiety but when I found out I was pregnant with my first, I definitely felt ambivalent about being pregnant despite having tried for a baby and wanting a baby. It's such a new stage in your life and feels like unknown territory! So I think it's normal to have those feelings, but of course if you have anxiety anyway they'll just be much stronger.

Hello @paperplant

Doctors went well. He believes with my medication and counselling I will overcome this.

I guess I’m scared I will never feel happy or excitement but maybe that will come in time? So many fears of the unknown seem to overshadow everything at the moment.

Thank you for replying x
