Hi all,

Feeling very alone at the moment and wondering has anyone else's screening bloods come back as high risk for edwards and patau syndrome?

Worried sick!

I was not high risk, but I didn’t want to leave your post here with no responses.

What a very difficult time for you.

I can reassure you that, if you have only had the 12w blood tests, there are further investigations that you can have that may give you a more accurate measure of whether your baby does have the trisomies or not, amniocentesis or the Harmony NIPT...are you considering further testing?

And without giving you false hope, I do know a number of women both here on this site and IRL who have had alarming first news only to get more accurate numbers that indicate that the risk is really nowhere near as high. They went on to have healthy babies in some instances (although I do sadly know someone who had bad news, confirmed by further scans and decided to terminate at 23w for medical reasons, she went on to have a healthy baby boy just a year later).

I hope you have some support and someone close to talk this through with. If you want anyone to chat to, please get in touch. All the very best xx

Thank you so much for your reply. I have the Nipt today and extremely worried about the results.
I was 11 weeks 2days when I had the scan and nothing was mentioned so when I had the news that I have a 1 in 5 chance, it was and still is a total shock. Surely if they saw any obvious abnormalities they would have said? The fluid behind babies neck was ok too. The results for downs came back fine, it's just those two xx

I had some high risk results (everything was ok in the end) and I found this website really helpful while I was waiting: www.arc-uk.org

It's really awful while you hate though. There's a board on here for test results, I found it very supportive.

Hi, thanks for your reply. What was your chance after the screening test?

Im just praying for a miracle at the moment. Iv been in contact with arc and they put my results into a percentage which did help but I still cant stop worrying.
I'm new to mums net, I will have to try and find the results page xx

I don't remember tbh, it wasn't that high, but high enough that I got the NIPT. But when I got the NIPT, the results were tiny, like 1 in 600,000 or something like that.
