Hello everyone!

Just wanting some advice really. My and my husband have been married just coming up to a year now. We have spoken about being ready for having a baby.

However I suffer with anxiety and I worry that this will be a lot worse with pregnancy and it is making me question whether it is the right time.

Just wondering when did you know it was the right time to start a family?

Thank you in advance 😊

I don't think there is a perfect time. If you would like children then, once financially fairly stable, trying early can be better if you have fears about fertility. It depends if you want to fit things in first - progress in career / travel?

I'm quite young, 24, my DH is 29. We got married last December and started trying in January, I'm now 32 weeks pregnant! We wouldn't have tried so early on ideally however I have spinal arthritis which is getting consistently worse and so we made the decision to start sooner rather than later to ensure that for the most part, I will be as able bodied as I can be to look after a baby.

Lots of different things to think about but the potential that my body would shut down before we had chance to start a family was right at the top of things to consider, therefore we decided now was the right time for us.

Never forget there is also the option to skip parenthood altogether. Having children is so ingrained in our society as the default/norm people often don’t realise not having children is a valid choice!
