Pregnancy weight gain?

I've gained 14lbs in 17 weeks. Majority of this was all gained in the first trimester as I basically ate for fun due to feeling ill all the time, it was the only thing that made me feel better and get me through the day! (No self control, usually I'm very good lol)

What stage of pregnancy are you at and how much weight have you gained (or lost in some cases!) ?

I know I shouldn't be too hard on myself, but I can't help but feel I've put on far too much for 17 week mark, although the last say 4-5 weeks I haven't gained any at all basically due to eating much healthier than first trimester.

Hi I'm almost 16 weeks and as of last week had gained 3.5lb but feel I have gained a bit since. I'm following slimming world to try and limit the damage

Tableclothing · 01/10/2019 14:37

www.babycenter.com/pregnancy-weight-gain-estimator

Typical healthy weight gain in pregnancy is 25-35 lb, so gaining 17 when you're nearly half way there sounds OK to me.

Tableclothing · 01/10/2019 14:37

14, sorry, not 17

nicannie · 01/10/2019 14:41

@Jesskir89 - slimming world, great shout!! thanks for that, I think I might go back into looking at that!

Thanks @Tableclothing, that's a useful link for me. I was a really healthy BMI before I fell pregnant as I'd just lost two stone in the first 6 months of the year through diet and exercising, so I was pretty lean before I fell - so I'm thinking the 14lbs is probably quite healthy for me.....

I'm 13 weeks and so far have gained 1lb. With my first I remember I put the majority on in the last half though, about 3 stone over all.

nicannie · 01/10/2019 14:43

@WilmaJean I'm quite surprised your total weight gain was 3 stone, but so far in this pregnancy 1lb, that's not much at all! By 13 weeks I had gained around 10-11lbs lol

This is the NHS guidance but doesn’t apply if you have certain conditions

www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/pregnancy/how-much-weight-will-i-put-on-during-my-pregnancy/

Teddybear45 · 01/10/2019 14:45

I am 31 weeks and have gained 4kg all of it after 20 weeks

nicannie · 01/10/2019 14:46

@Teddybear45 going to have a read of that now, I don't have any conditions so it will apply to me

nicannie · 01/10/2019 14:48

@teddybear45 that's really good, I have no hope of that now lol. I was 55kg (8 stone 7lbs) when I fell pregnant... so was petite anyways, worried about the weight gained after 20 week mark now !

I lost half a stone in the first trimester (HG) and gained four stones in the second and third trimesters Blush
I was worried but midwives and consultants told me not to worry 🤷‍♀️

nicannie · 01/10/2019 14:50

@7worfs I have my next appointment on the 25th Oct for my 20 week scan etc, so I can maybe mention it to them then and see if they have any concerns about my weight gain. It really seems to have steadied out for me just now.... so I'm hoping it's not going to be a concern!

I’m almost there and have actually lost 17lb. Partly due to severe HG for the first 24 weeks!! Eating hasn’t really been an option for me!
In all honesty, I don’t think gaining some weight is an issue. A lot of people really worry about it. After each of my children so far I have been at least 1 stone lighter than at the end of my pregnancy. Even if a person gains 2stone, that’s still only 1 left to lose once baby has arrived. Try not to worry about it Flowers

nicannie · 01/10/2019 14:53

Thank you @Gustavo1, I really appreciate your comment. I think your right, I think I need to stop worrying so much about it so much.... can't believe how much you have lost each time, that's crazy!

Thanks again, needed some of those positive vibes xx

I'm 32 weeks this week and have put on 7kg / 15 pounds.

I am overweight already though so really trying to limit my gains.

nicannie · 01/10/2019 14:55

@Vapevamp12 with you saying your overweight, 15 pounds is a really good weight gain for you right? Well done... I think you have done so well considering I've put that on in only 17 weeks..

MySonIsAlsoNamedBort · 01/10/2019 14:58

34 weeks and gained 19 pound. Been super gradual the whole way through.

TryingToBeBold · 01/10/2019 15:07

I'm 5ft 2..put on the majority of weight after 20 weeks.. I weight 8st 8 before hand and put on approximately 4st.. coming in and just under 12 and a half.
4months PP and I'm down to 9st 13

crazycatbaby · 01/10/2019 15:10

I'm 20 weeks and I'm about 3.5kg under what I was before I got pregnant, but I've been sick and not had much appetite. I'm also pretty overweight so probably for the best GrinI'm sure it'll come on soon though

MockingJay27 · 01/10/2019 15:15

I’m 16 weeks and I’ve gained 3 pounds, i didn’t gain anything in the first 12-13 weeks so i think I’m on track to gain a pound a week which i think is pretty standard.

firstimemamma · 01/10/2019 15:18

I went from 9 stone to 10 by 10 weeks and was 12 stone by 9 months! It was a healthy pregnancy, labour and baby. By 6 months post partum I was back to 9 stone. Everyone is different. As long as your midwife says all is ok (as she did with me) please don't worry Smile

VapeVamp12 · 01/10/2019 15:37

@nicannie thanks :) I'm pleased - I was very worried about putting on a lot - like 3-4 stone, so 15 pounds so far I feel okay about.

Bit worried about the next few weeks because I wasn't really showing but the last couple of weeks my bump feels like it gets bigger very minute!

Countrylifeornot · 01/10/2019 15:48

I'm 38 weeks and have put on 9 kg, pretty much the same as my last pregnancy.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 01/10/2019 15:53

Last pregnancy I gained 9kg in first 20 weeks (nausea helped by food) and then nothing in last 20 weeks. MW was not concerned.

This time I have lost nearly 10kg in first trimester as food doesn’t help the nausea for some reason. again MW not concerned and I fully expect to put it back on once I can eat normally again

nicannie · 01/10/2019 17:11

@TryingToBeBold I'm the exact same height and pre pregnancy weight as you! Well done on your weight loss so far afterwards! I think my weight gain in the end will be similar to yours 😂
