Rising Hcgs, no visible sac....

Sept 7th I got my bfp after 3 years of trying!!! Since Sept 13th my hcg has been monitored. On average, I am rising 41% every 3 days. Today I am 4573. Today I also had my 3rd us. Still no visible sac can or anything. Endometrium is nice and thick, and clear fallopian tubes. I'm not cramping or bleeding. My body is going through all the expected pregnancy signs. I'm so confused and scared. Dr is calling me the mystery patient. Not only are my numbers not doubling, but they can't see the little bugger either ..... Anyone else have similar issues..... What was outcome. ...

Hi- it’s all so confusing isn’t it. How many weeks are you?

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 01/10/2019 08:36

Yes and it was an ectopic - once hcg is above 1000 a sac should be visible if it's not then sadly it's likely to be ectopic

I'm surprised your doctor isn't more concerned?
Once mine hit over 5000 I ruptured and nearly died.....

Hcg should double every 2 days (quicker than that really in a healthy pregnancy) so your rises are below that which would indicate a viable pregnancy I'm sorry OP X

I had a 'pregnancy of unknown location' with similar signs - womb thickening etc, but no sign of an embryo. Thankfully it resolved itself naturally and I didn't have to have an operation or take any drugs. I'm afraid it doesn't sound to good as something should be visible on a scan by now. Has your doctor referred you to a specialist rather than just calling you 'the mystery patient'? I really hope you have a happy outcome, but be prepared for the worst x

You need to be really careful with this. Hope it all works out for you but please go to A+E if you experience any pain. Could be ectopic.

Teddybear45 · 01/10/2019 10:32

Did you have a transvaginal scan? If yes then it’s possible your dates are wrong and that’s what your consultant is hoping for.

epolstyle · 01/10/2019 14:16

I've had an ectopic before. I have no bleeding or pain. I feel normal actually.

Thanks guys!

@epolstyle
I've had two and both ruptured - had no pains or bleeding until a couple of hours before they burst

The fact you've had one before puts you hugely at risk of another one and your doctor should be taking it more seriously x

Samosaurus · 01/10/2019 20:52

Reading your latest post that you’ve already had an ectopic is worrying - your doctor should be carefully monitoring you as you are at greater risk of another once you've had one. When is your next scan?

epolstyle · 01/10/2019 21:36

Thursday is next scan. All scans have ruled out ectopic. Kidneys and tube areas are completely healthy and clean.

I am in no pain,

... no bleeding....nothing alarming at all. If dates are correct I would be roughly 5.5-6 weeks.

The only way they can possibly rule out an ectopic is to perform a laparoscopy - they can't rule it out by scanning your tubes alone. I had three ultrasounds on my tubes and they were all clear, even though it was an ectopic pregnancy.

You're not a mystery patient, with HCG rising like that over such a long period and considering there is nothing on the scan, a pregnancy of unknown location really is the only plausible option. Ectopic don't always give away any symptoms and that's what makes them so dangerous. Please please please push for answers because as much as I know you're hoping a sac will magically appear on the next scan, you're putting yourself at risk.

ImpeachTrump · 01/10/2019 23:21

Please do not wait until Thursday. The doctors treating you are failing to follow guidelines and you risk rupturing and death. With your hcg level they should be able to see a pregnancy in your uterus. The fact that they can't means that you have an ectopic pregnancy or pregnancy of unknown location. You have had a previous ectopic pregnancy which increases the risk of having another one.

Please call them in the morning and insist that you are seen. Don't let them tell you that you are fine because they couldn't see anything in your tubes. You need either a laparoscopy or treatment with methotrexate. At the very least they should admit you until they know what is happening. Please don't be like me and be too meek and not push it. My uterus was empty, my hcg was at a similar level to yours and my tubes looked clear. I ruptured, lost my tube, received five units of blood and had to be resuscitated on the operating table. I don't want to scare you but I want to impress upon you that this can't wait until Thursday. Please go to hospital tomorrow ThanksThanks

How did the scan go @epolstyle x

epolstyle · 03/10/2019 13:05

Gere niw actually. No sign of pregnancy visiually. Waiting to talk with Dr.

Hope you can get this resolved soon, let us know how you get on with the doctor x

MyDcAreMarvel · 03/10/2019 19:05

@epolstyle what did the doctor say? They need to take this seriously.

epolstyle · 03/10/2019 20:31

Update. Not ectopic. I am saddened to report I miscarried right at the Dr office. As soon as us was complete, I went to dress, and began immediately passing tissue. Dr confirmed.
I'm heartbroken .
