Maternity Coats & Sizes

Hiya,

I'm 20 weeks and am about to buy a maternity coat for winter. I'm usually a size 8 or 10, so was going to order the same size coat but from a maternity collection.

What I wanted to ask, is that obviously my bump will still get bigger between now and week 40, so if i buy a maternity coat in my usual size....will it still fit me?

I went up a size too, the thing is it may be a little bit baggy on you but you have no idea how much your bump will grow between now and week 40. At 20 weeks I had a tiny bump and was still wearing my pre pregnancy jeans. By week 30 I was bloody huge! And only got bigger as time went on

Buy a size 12, better to have a bit of room than not be able to fasten it up.

I wouldn’t buy a coat just yet. Make do with the ones you have as they should still fit or you can leave unzipped with a heavy scarf. Probably not a good idea to buy a maternity coat until you are at least 28 weeks.

Get a 3 in 1 one if you can, that way you can use it when you're babywearing and get more life out of it.

Maybe wait and see how you get on I am 38+5 and still in my regular coat, granted I probably wont by next week as it is a tight fit. But who knows, baby might make an appearance before then 🤷‍♀️

I did a similar post recently. Go outdoors do a panel that attaches to your normal coat. I don’t know whether to hold out a bit longer or just buy a second hand cheap one! I am used to summer babies! X

It's different for everyone I was still in my normal clothes at 37 weeks when I gave birth except obviously not jeans.

Asda have a brilliant panel coat for only £28 at the moment.

Thanks everyone. My normal coat doesn't fit me anymore around the belly, struggle to zip up.

I found one in Dorothy Perkins, also had some gift vouchers so didn't hit me that hard. Just hope it fits all the way through the remainder of the pregnancy haha!
