My 16 week midwife appointment is coming up but what happens at this appointment? FTM so no idea what to expect and I'd like to be prepared. Is it a long appointment what is done etc.

Mine was 20 mins, in and out appointment. Checked something, asked how I was feeling and out. You can find info on the NHS website. Which states:
Your midwife or doctor will give you information about the ultrasound scan you'll be offered at 18 to 20 weeks.

They'll also help with any concerns or questions you have.

Your midwife or doctor should:

review, discuss and record the results of any screening tests
measure your blood pressure and test your urine for protein
consider an iron supplement if you're anaemic

I think it depends on your area, they checked the heartbeat at mine (it was our first time hearing it so was very cool) and did blood pressure, urine and a general chat on how I was feeling but friends in different areas didn't get heartbeat check

Appointment was about 20 mins long. Asked me for a urine sample, checked blood pressure and the baby’s heart beast. First time I’d heard it so was very relieved. Next apps the 20 week scan then another midwife app at 25 weeks

In my area they don't check heartbeat at 16 weeks, so just urine sample and blood pressure - so slightly underwhelming to be honest! Obviously a chance to ask any questions you have as well...

Pretty boring appointment. My first pregnancy it was about 10 minutes. Blood pressure, urine but no heartbeat listening. I had no real questions..

Second pregnancy now, my 16 week is tomorrow. I really hoping they’ve changed & will listen to the HB! With your second pregnancy, there is a huge gap in appointments in my area. 16 week & then 28 weeks! I’m 28 weeks on Christmas Day Grin
