Hi ladies,

I'm 17 + 3 days and I've been paranoid about sleeping on my back and right side.

Has anyone been disciplined when it comes to sleeping or do you just sleep whatever comfortable to you?

Xx

Why is there an issue sleeping on your right side?

Just go to sleep and if you wake on your back in the middle of the night readjust.

My understanding (see link: www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/im-pregnant/sleep-position-pregnancy-qa) is that it only matters in the third trimester, and as long as you fall asleep on your side, if you wake on your back it’s fine, just roll back on to your side again.
I’m 19 weeks but trying to get in to a habit of falling asleep on the left side. I always wake up on my back but as far as I understand it, that’s okay!

You can sleep on either side. Left hand side is meant to be "better" for digestion and blood flow but either is fine.

Try sleeping with a pillow tucked behind your back on either side so if you do roll onto your back it's not flat on your back

Sleeping on your right side is fine. I wake up in the night all the time on my back, I mentioned it to my midwife and she said to just roll onto my side again when it happens, it's pretty much uncontrollable so all you can do is go to sleep on your side really and move if you need to in the night

I'm nearly 24w and I wake on my front. I only wake because I struggle to breathe.

I think you only need to try sleeping on the left side from 20 weeks, lap up sleeping any way you want just now Smile

I start out on my left each night. I wake up through the night on my back & right side every night & just roll back over.
I've found my pregnancy pillow to be a good support as I tend to lean into the whole thing to get to sleep.
