20 Weeks scan - Can you see the baby’s sex?

Earlier this week we had our 20 week scan and had decided we didn’t want to find out the sex of the baby. We didn’t see any clues during the scan but we were given a picture where I think it might be possible to tell. I showed my mum today as she seems to think you can see a scrotum! What do you think? Is the surprise ruined?

I'm having a boy and at my 20 week scan could definitely tell it was a boy! From this photo I can't really see any boy bits but I'm no sonographer! X

Thanks all! It looks to me like you can see part of the genital area though it’s quite blurred. I can kinda see two circle areas which is what my mum thinks are the babies ‘balls’! I’m hoping there aren’t any clues but my gut feeling is that it’s a boy anyway.

I can't see anything op. I think your surprise is safe!

I can't see anything and I have dozens of my baby boy so spent hours looking at them - his were clear.

If you said surprise they usually won't give you a photo where anything relevant is visible anyway.

I can't see anything either, it looks like the legs are hiding it.
The 2 halves of the vagina looks quite like balls tbh 😂

Thanks everyone, I’m sure you’re right and also would have thought the sonographer wouldn’t have given us a pic with anything showing.

I would say girl. When I had mine the sonograper said can you see those three white lines, it’s a girl.

Wow that scan is amazing, very clear! Mine was difficult to make out. I can't tell the sex from the photo but I've never been good at that.

Thanks yes I agree it’s a great picture! I just thought that the sonographer May have forgotten that we didn’t want to know the sex as we had to leave the room and go for a walk to try and get the baby to move as it was hiding his/her face and she saw two other people during that time so may have forgot when we went back in! I guess we will see in February if those are boy bits!

We're having twins. One is a boy. At the 20 week scan, there was absolutely no mistaking the dangly bits, you couldn't have missed them.

On the basis you didn't glimpse a willy, I'd guess girl. On the basis of that photo, there is no genitalia showing at all, so you are safe to ignore mum's guesses too... She's 50/50 right anyway.
