Early gender scan accuracy

Hi all, I had an early gender scan at 16 weeks pregnant which I was told baby was a GIRL, but it was difficult as baby wouldn't move to let the Lady see this was at baby bond Mothercare. I've got my 20 week scan on Tuesday and I am now panicking incase it wasn't accurate and i have bought everything pink!

How accurate were other people's early gender scans? Tia x

I had the same thing. Gender scan at 16 weeks..girl!
She is a mover! Had to leave & come back. When I went back we got a clear couple of seconds where she moved her legs. The sonographer said she had seen the sex the first time but wanted it clearer so she could show us.
20 week scan also confirmed a girl.

I think if they can see the baby is Male then they’re pretty much 100%, female is a little trickier.

That being said, I had a scan at 16 weeks and the dr said my twins were both girls and they are.

I had one at 12 weeks that said boy, and he was a boy. But I also think it's a bit crazy that you've already gone out and bought most of the clothes in pink. I would've waited until it was 100% sure.

I think that generally when you go for a scan purely to specify the sex, if the sonograoher cannot tell for certain then they will get you to come back to be scanned again.

Phew thanks for that hopefully they tell me girl at my 20 weeks, I bought pink because I've bought from baby sales and things which aren't on in the winter and I'm due in February!

Had my scan at exactly 16 weeks, and after a jump around in the toilet to get baby to uncross their legs we were told she was a girl!

They very clearly showed us the potty shot and the sonographer said she was sure (OH had to ask!). She said if she wasn't sure then she would not tell us a guess and ask us to come back.

I was the same. Private said girl then I panicked after buying clothes and my 20 week scan confirmed girl.

We got told at 12 weeks. She said 'its still very early, but im quite certain its a boy.' They did tell us to not paint the bedroom yet though ;)
I also think i heard somewhere that if they see a boy its quite clear. And if they say its a girl theres a higher chance of them getting it wrong. But i dont remember who told me that and if its even true.

Sex scan, not gender scan. Even if you believe sex and gender are different things, you still can't tell the gender of an unborn baby, or even a new born baby come to that.

SquigglyOne · 29/09/2019 17:30

We had private gender scan at 17 weeks and were told boy.
20 weeks scan also confirmed boy 💙💙

Lovemartina2012 · 29/09/2019 18:17

I was told on 13 weeks scan boy but don’t get painting the nursery had a 16 weeks scan confirmed boy and 20 weeks scan confirmed boy so let’s start painting the nursery as 3 confirmed boy for me Smile

Sex scan, not gender scan
These early scans are named gender scans by the companies who provide them.

Angelinthenightx · 29/09/2019 19:21

I got told 20wk girl at 24wk still a girl.it is easier to see a boy but also a girl is easy too if u know what to look for.

Wiltshirelass2019 · 29/09/2019 19:25

Mine was accurate.

Then they are incorrectly named by that company, and the company is lying - it isn't possible to find out the gender of a foetus.
