12 week scan (Can’t see arms)

Hi All,

I realise that this is going to make me sound like.. well you’ll see what I mean!

I am just back from my 12 week scan, scan went well (very happy sonographer) but on looking at/obsessing over the scan I realised that I can’t see any arms? Surely my sonographer would have mentioned this?

Some 12 week scans look super clear so I’m just a little worried/ neurotic.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. And please feel free to judge my obsessive paranoia!!! 🙈

If they spotted an issue they would have told you. I don't think any of my scans I've seen the arms really. Legs yes because of babies position but unless arms are raise I wouldn't have said I'd noticed

The scan effectively shows a cross section of your baby’s body so wouldn’t necessarily show arms unless it was at the right angle - look at 12 week scan photos online, you’ll see many don’t show arms. I can assure you 100% the Sonographer would have noticed if there were no arms and told you about it.

The sonographer would have checked the limbs at 12 weeks. You really don’t need to worry about this. You aren’t looking at the entire scan, you just have one picture from it and it won’t be one showing arms. I assume it shows the facial profile and the arms won’t be there. Just relax, let this anxiety go.
