Took my first one last Friday, got 1-2 weeks. I’m now 5 weeks tomorrow and still getting 1-2...is this a bad sign? I’m a little anxious after a previous missed miscarriage at 11 weeks Sad

You know it’s how many weeks since conception? So perhaps you only ovulated 2 weeks ago.

I know how you feel, I googled this a lot :)

The range of hcg needed to get from 1-2 weeks to 2-3 weeks is massive.
Honestly I wouldn’t worry - I know easier said than done.

TwinkleStars15 · 27/09/2019 07:20

@flissity I think I ovulated around 8th-9th September so just over 2.5 weeks ago... I was never like this in my previous pregnancy, but the miscarriage has thrown me into a ball of anxiety! I really thought it would have shown at least 2-3 by now, it’s been a week since the last test.

When I was 6 weeks pregnant I was still getting 2-3 weeks. Now have a happy 2 year old 😊 they aren't very reliable. I did 2 in the space of 24 hours and got two different results

DamnaThatOnesTaken · 27/09/2019 07:30

You could have been at the lowest of 1-2 and now at the highest of 1-2. Most doctors wish the weeks indicator test was banned because it caused unnecessary panic. The fact you are 5 weeks already significantly reduces the chances of miscarriage. Follow this link for more reassurance datayze.com/miscarriage-reassurer.php

userabcname · 27/09/2019 07:34

I didn't move from 1-2 weeks this pregnancy- I'm 37 weeks today! I don't think they are very accurate.

TwinkleStars15 · 27/09/2019 08:17

Thanks everyone, I know you’re all right and making complete sense.

@DamnaThatOnesTaken that’s really hard to believe for me as I had a mmc at 10/11 weeks last time Sad That link is interesting though, thanks.

DamnaThatOnesTaken · 27/09/2019 08:41

Sorry to hear that. But rationally your chance of miscarrying that late was really low. So you were really unfortunate. And the chance of miscarriage has gone down a lot from when you first conceived to now! It's so hard to just relax when you have been through a trauma like that. Maybe booking an early scan for 8 weeks will help?

flissity · 27/09/2019 08:46

I can’t imagine the worry if you’ve experienced Mc before :(

My last 2 pregnancy’s I was blissfully unaware of how common MC are. This one is different as I’ve had friends go thru them and just reading
Stuff online etc.

Fingers crossed for you xx

TwinkleStars15 · 27/09/2019 12:15

Just had some brown ish blood when I wiped Sad Super anxious now. My last miscarriage was a silent one (I found out at my 12 week scan) so no idea what to expect if this is one, just sat here waiting for the cramps to start...

lauryloo · 27/09/2019 12:17

Oh no. Fingers crossed it'll be OK x sending positive vibes your way

flissity · 27/09/2019 14:03

Poor thing.... I really hope it’s just nothing at all 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

DamnaThatOnesTaken · 27/09/2019 15:41

Sorry to hear that 😔. Brown is better than red. Can you ring your epu?

TwinkleStars15 · 27/09/2019 15:54

I called EPU and they said they can’t scan me until 6 weeks (got an appointment for then anyway, next Friday) and that some bleeding is normal. It doesn’t feel normal though. She was lovely but basically there isn’t anything she can do.
I’m still bleeding a bit, and some bits are red and other brown. It’s so worrying and there’s literally nothing I can do other than wait Sad

@TwinkleStars15 I’m so so sorry to hear this. I completely understand where you are coming from. I had a mmc in May that was discovered at my 12wk scan too. I’d had a scan at 6 weeks that showed just a sac then one at 8wks that showed an embryo and a HB, we still went on to miscarry which was a huge shock. It’s devastating. I’m 6+4 now and had a bleed last Sunday and went to epu on Tuesday, could see an embryo but no heartbeat yet! Praying we see one next week but the anxiety is awful.

I really hope everything works out for you. I keep thinking surely this can’t happen twice back to back!!

TwinkleStars15 · 27/09/2019 21:02

@Bumpingalong84 sorry to hear you went through that too. I’d also had a positive 8 week scan but by the time I went for me 12 week one I just knew something wasn’t right. I’d had no bleeding or pain, I just had this sense that something had gone wrong.

I’m now bleeding red blood so I’m assuming it’s all going to be over soon. I’ve never had a natural miscarriage so not too sure what to expect, but I’m guessing it’s going to get worse overnight.

I really hope you have a positive outcome with your pregnancy Flowers Good luck with your scan next week xx

Bumpingalong84 · 28/09/2019 00:15

Ohh @TwinkleStars15 I’m so sorry. It’s so horrid. Hopefully if you are early on it won’t be too bad Sad. Lots of thick pads, pain killers and hot water bottles. I too didn’t bleed first tine round and was given the choices so decided on medical management which was awful and I ended up with an erpc anyways. I hope you have someone with you. Take care

flissity · 28/09/2019 07:17

@TwinkleStars15 hope you’re ok xx

TwinkleStars15 · 28/09/2019 07:29

@Bumpingalong84 @Flissity thank you both Flowers I’m still bleeding, although I’m not having strong cramps which is throwing me off a little. Don’t get me wrong, I’m under no illusions that this is not a miscarriage, I’m sure it is, but I expected severe pain and what I have is like the period pain you get the day your due on. So I’m worried it’s going to get worse Sad

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 28/09/2019 09:03

@TwinkleStars15
I don't think your hcg levels got very high if your clearblue never went higher than 1-2 weeks so you may find this is more like a heavy period physically (obviously not the same mentally/emotionally)

In answer to your original post clearblue has accurately predicted all 5 of my miscarriages (didn't progress to 2/3 weeks or 3 weeks when they should) and were only wrong on the 2 ectopics that I had x

TwinkleStars15 · 28/09/2019 09:12

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted Thank you and sorry you went through that Flowers What you say makes a lot of sense, and may be why I’m not experiencing anything too severe, fingers crossed it stays that way and hopefully will be over soon. I’ve heard a lot of people wait 10-15 weeks for their period to return, I really hope that’s not the case for me.

OP posts:
MrsH497 · 28/09/2019 09:28

@TwinkleStars15 I don't know if this will reassure you when I had my MC in May I honestly had barely any pain (which along with minimal bleeding unless I went to the toilet made everyone think it wasn't a MC) when I passed the biggest clots I had very mild cramps less than period pain took some paracetamol and was fine.

MC isn't always the same as depicted on websites and Mumsnet not always loads of bleeding or excruciating pain. As I say I barely had anything on sanitary towels passed most blood when I went to the toilet and cramps were minimal.

Look after yourself x

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 28/09/2019 09:29

@TwinkleStars15
My period has always come back very quickly - I would count the heaviest day of bleeding as your cycle day 1 and you should get your normal period 4 weeks after that (my cycle is like clockwork through)

Even with a miscarriage at 12 weeks my period came back within 5 weeks so try not to worry too much but do give your body time to heal x

flissity · 29/09/2019 11:31

You poor thing. If it is a miscarriage I hope it’s over as soon as possible and your cycles return quickly x

AliSxo · 03/10/2019 20:32

Hope you're ok@TwinkleStars15 have you had your scan to check up on you?Thanksxx
