Does any stretch mark lotion actually work?

Hi!

Before wasting my pennies on stretch mark creams and lotions, does anyone have any advice about which ones worked for them?

MNHQ update:
This thread is a few years old now, but if you've come across it while searching for advice on stretch mark treatment options, our guide to the best stretch mark cream has been recently updated to reflect new releases and current availability. It contains a wide range of options, from creams and butters to balms, oil and lotion - all tried, tested and approved by Mumsnetters and skincare experts. We hope it's helpful! Flowers

Didn't get any stretch marks on my stomach after two pregnancies. Granged, I hadn't put a lot of weight and smallish bumps which might have helped (the babies were still between 6-7 pounds). I was also using Palmers Cocoa butter religiously throughout both pregnancies. Strangely, I have some stretch marks on my breasts and I am a size B. So not really sure what's the deal.

Was using Bio Oil but have now started using Secret Saviours bump bands. Can't confirm whether it has worked for me yet as only just 31 weeks.

They have actually done a study on women and have results that show it stops stretch marks completely or reduces the number and severity in women who still get them. The idea is that the band spreads the load across the whole area rather than it being localised where the skin might strain and tear (stretch marks are tears in the dermis, the lower layer of skin) - was the idea of a dermatologist at UCL. Might be worth investigating?

I used Neal's Yard Wheatgerm oil in two pregnancies. No stretch marks
