High Iron Levels ???

Hi!

I had my midwife appointment yesterday at 25+1. I told them about some recent episodes I've had of feeling very dizzy and faint and blurred / tunnel vision like when you're about to faint.

She took some bloods to check my iron and told me that I have "higher than normal" levels. She didn't indicate that she was concerned about it but was just wondering, does having high iron levels in pregnancy have any negative effects or carry any risks?

I don't take any extra vitamins or anything like that so think I just naturally have high iron in my blood. I eat relatively healthy but I've put on 1 kilo a week from 16-25 weeks pregnant.

Has anyone else had this? When I google all I can find is things relating to iron deficiency which is the exact opposite of me! Lol.

Without seeing the actual figures I think it's hard to say. She may just mean that you haven't dropped your value as much as most pregnant women do?

@Weathergirl1 thanks.

She did say "you have super iron!" And "iron levels like a man" lol.

Assuming it's nothing to worry about as she didn't really seem concerned but was just curious after the phone call from MW.

I'm well envious OP - I had higher end hgb and hct before pregnancy ( probably due to the amount of sport I do) and am now feeling pretty wiped out!
