Pregnant with a cold

I'm so miserable. Can't stop coughing and sneezing and there's nothing here I can take that's safe in pregnancy (not in the UK). My ribs hurt and I have no energy or appetite. I'm a bit worried as the doctor wanted me to put on weight but it's been so hard to eat the past few days, though I do try to at least have cereal/toast or whatever.

Does anyone know any good natural remedies I can try, mostly for coughing and blocked nose, I'm luckily not in much pain.

I'm in the same boat. Picked up a terrible cold a week ago and it just won't budge. I'm 37+3 so I'm scared I'm going to end up in labour with it.
You can use vapour rub e.g. Vicks safely in pregnancy, and the obvious paracetamol. Maybe make up a hot lemon and honey drink? Hope you feel better soon.

Same boat here.
It hurts my chest and stomach when i cough.

Day 3 here and it seems to be subsiding a little. I have been drinking fresh orange juice (figured the extra vitamin c might help', Hot water with lemon and honey, toast with marmite. Chicken broth noodle soup.
Spent 2 days virtually in bed just resting, snoozing. lots of water.

No idea if any of the above particularly helped, but like i said, I am starting to feel way better than sunday/monday.

Me too!! Hit me like a ton of bricks Sunday night and I had to call in sick to work yesterday...3rd time since I told them I'm pregnant! I'm 9 weeks according to my scan last week and feel absolutely horrendous, yesterday I could hardly move as I ached so much. I've been awake since 4am as I have a scratchy throat that dries out when I breathe in despite constantly sipping orange juice. I'm also asthmatic and my chest feels very tight and heavy. I'm curled up on the sofa with a cup of tea and some marmite on toast but have a drs appointment later to be on the safe side especially cos of my asthma.

Sorry there are so many others suffering.

I have been going into work, wish I didn't have to but I'll be off on maternity leave soon and we need the money (no maternity pay here and I am freelance so if I don't work I don't get paid.)

It seems to have all settled in my throat and breathing is so painful.

Spicy food has helped a bit, at least I can actually taste it a little and it does clear things up a little.

Hot honey-and-lemon to drink - sounds unimpressive but genuinely makes you feel better, especially if you have a sore throat.

Lots of vitamin C can only help - either in pill form or oranges/veg.

As for keeping food intake up, be kind to yourself - scrambled eggs, soups, ice cream etc. Easy to eat and keep up the calories.

Husband just made me one with ginger too. It is helping.

Food is harder, I just want shitty Tesco toast but no shitty Tesco here.

Yep I pretty much had a 9 month cold last time! I thought paracetamol was fine though?

WatchingTheMoon · 24/09/2019 12:49

Paracetamol is fine but I don't have any pain to take it for! Just snotty and no energy.
