I’m 4 weeks pg, I found out nearly a week ago. I ovulated early so got a bfp early....
Anyway, last night and tonight I got the tiniest of a speck of red blood.
This is prob the weekend af was due.
It cannot be implantation blood as I’ve had positive pg tests and you don’t produce hcg until implanted I think...
We had sex for first time In a week yesterday, but the speck of blood was 12 hours after this.

What do you think?

It's quite common to bleed after sex or there be blood when u wipe I went to a&e several times will bleeding to finally be told by the midwife it was from having sex and quite common after that I bled after sex most times but only ever the slightest amount xx

Teddybear45 · 22/09/2019 23:31

There’s two types of implantation bleed - the one that actually occurs during implantation of the embryo and the other that occurs when the embryo buries in a little further from 4 weeks. As you’ve only had a little blood I’d bet on the latter but definitely let your GP know and wear a pad to keep an eye on it. If it gets worse contact your local maternity unit or GP and they can refer you (or you can pay privately) for an early scan from 6-7 weeks

kellyw1989 · 23/09/2019 08:14

@flissity agree with @Mummylanie3 I had the same when I had sex when I was pregnant and did bleed light in various occasions midwife told me was from having sex xx

flissity · 23/09/2019 09:36

Thanks- the sex was 12 hours before tho?

I have thought about implantation and how it must an ongoing process. Not just one day..
I’ve put on white knickers to monitor the situation and am seeing a dr at midday.

Thanks so much for your replies. It seems very common. It really was such a tiny amount. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I had similar bleeding at about 4 weeks and it turned out to be a urine infection! I'd book in at the doctors for a quick urine test if you can :)

flissity · 23/09/2019 21:18

Thanks @tillysnuggles

I went to the dr today and had blood taken, will have taken again Wednesday I check hcg levels. She also said she may organise a 6 wk scan. Just said to me if I get pains to go to a&e. I may ask Wednesday to have a urine test too !

I had the scan too XX

flissity · 24/09/2019 07:04

@kellyw1989 2 weeks seems a long time to wait for the scan. But I have not had any more bleeds and if the hcg test comes back ok I can relax a bit!

kellyw1989 · 24/09/2019 07:07

And don’t worry about the scan it’s not painful

madeyemoodysmum · 24/09/2019 08:54

I had a scan at 6 weeks for spotting. All was well and tiny bean heartbeat was reassuring to see.

Try not to worry ❤️

flissity · 24/09/2019 09:02

Was it an internal scan? Haven’t had one before.

madeyemoodysmum · 24/09/2019 09:18

Yes It’s not painful tho and they were very discreet. A bit like a smear but less invasive.

flissity · 24/09/2019 15:19

Thanks :)

I wouldn't even bat an eye at a tiny pin prick of blood, could be any number of things.

danielasummer · 24/09/2019 16:09

I also had this at the weekend. I called 111 and the out of hours doctor called me back. He said to make a note of it and let my midwife know at our firs appointment (I'm 6+1 today so quite early still) and he said that unless there are clots/a lot of blood and/or severe cramping, not to worry, which reassured me.

I hope you're ok and that gives you a little reassurance. I was so panicked when it happened to me! It sounds like we had a very similar experience.

flissity · 24/09/2019 19:02

I will update you!

Second hcg test tomorrow morning. I am hoping for results Friday if I’m
lucky! And also hopefully she will tell me if she’s booked a 6 week scan.

I was so fortunate as she was a locum dr at my surgery, but nearly always working at the Early Preg Assessment Unit In nearest city.

So she was knowledgeable. But obvs couldn’t tell me definitively what’s happening or not!

@Falafel19 the logical part of me thinks that too.

flissity · 25/09/2019 12:22

Got my bloods back from Monday - 594 at 4 weeks 1 day.

Will await today’s results. Calling dr Friday

@flissity Thinking of you. Please keep us updated! x

danielasummer · 25/09/2019 15:40

@flissity If it makes you feel any better, I also had this and the EPU won't even see me as they said because I have no other symptoms I am 'low risk'; today the dr called them to refer me for a scan but they called me and said they won't do one until 7 weeks :( So my fingers are just crossed for my dating scan at 10+1. Let us know how you get on x

flissity · 25/09/2019 17:27

@danielasummer that’s such a long time to wait and feel in limbo for...

Have you had any pain or more bleeding?

OP posts:
flissity · 25/09/2019 18:00

Was contemplating scraping together the money for a private scan if the dr wasn’t offering.
It’s awful not letting yourself get excited :/

OP posts:
danielasummer · 25/09/2019 18:07

@flissity no pain or any more bleeding.

It's just strange that the dr referred me but they won't scan me at the EPU? I'm going for a blood test tomorrow so will ask the receptionist at the GP about it. Doesn't seem right to me.

I've heard lots of people have great success with private scans! x

flissity · 25/09/2019 20:34

It’s obviously just their policy maybe? At least a 48hr hcg blood test will tell you something.

So do you think you will get a scan at 7 weeks?
