dates - 6 a day near to due date

Hi all,
I have read lots about eating dates as you get close to your due date. I am now 37 weeks and started eating dates last week (Medjool ones). They are so big and so full of sugar I am struggling to eat more than 3 a day but the guidance says 6 per day.
I was wondering if Medjool dates mean you can eat less of them?
The evidence seems to say a shorter and easier labour so willing to give it a go.....
Any experiences with dates or anyone doing something similar?

Never heard of dates making a difference. Might just give you the runs

I did it and had a 42 hour labour. Ha!

Never heard of this or eaten them. My longest labour out of three was 8 hours.

Found this:

Six dates per day is the magic number—provided that you’re eating smaller deglet noor dates.

Deglet noor dates are about 1 inch long.Medjool dates can be up to 2 inches long.

If you’re eating medjool dates, you only need about 3 dates to reach the 75 grams recommended in the studies.

The problem is that there is no real way of knowing. However I ate 6 and the rest per day in the month or so leading up to my due date with my second baby and had an extremely swift labour (under an hour). But it could also just have been a quicker labour because she was my second 🤷🏻‍♀️ No harm in eating them if you can stomach it I suppose...

I did this (6 deglet noor dates per day, from 32 weeks I think it was) and my labour was 44 hours 😂 so either they didn't work for me or it would have been even longer without eating the dates!

Will never eat another date again lol.

Thanks all - I think I'll try 2-3 a day and leave it at that and then who knows what will happen!

Don’t come to Australia then, my midwife said 8!! Of the big medjool dates a day!! From partway through my second trimester!! Most days I don’t manage 8 and despite quite liking then at 36 weeks I’m throughly over them.
