Has anyone hear this before ? I went to the epub department due to pink discharge and cramps and they said I'm about 5 weeks they seen the sac and yolk nut no baby. They said my sac should be alot bigger compared to the yolk . I've also start bleeding alot more last night . I rang them and they will re scan me but not for 10 days I know I havent passed any clots or anything else yet just red fresh blood . The nurse said lots of people go on to have healthy pregnancy but I cant believe her . I had a miscarriage 4months ago as well

If the fresh bleeding started after a transvaginal ultrasound, I believe this is quite common. That the wand irritates the cervix and can cause a bit of bleeding.

You won’t see a ‘baby’ until about 9-10w, at 5w, your embryo is literally a bunch of cells and will develop into the foetal pole before its discernible as a baby. Most wont even show cardiac cells yet, so there are no ‘heartbeat’ flutterings to be seen.

The measurements on your scan should have some indication of size. At 5w, it may be up to 6mm in diameter. Whether the size is big or small is rather irrelevant if the dares are wrong though...

I’m sorry you are having s worrying time. I hope you have company. Especially considering your previous loss. I imagine your emotions are heightened as a result. Blessbyou. Try to rest xx

Hi sorry are you a sonographer ? As u sound like you know loads more then the lady that scanned me . My last period was 4th july but I cant be that far along as I done a few tests in Aug when I missed my period and it was negivtie and then went for a private scan and she said I was about 3 weeks which matches up with the dates. The bleeding started over 24 hours after the scan ? Could this still be the reason ? She was pressing really rwally hard and was getting me to push really hard on my left side as she said I had alot of gas and it really hurt

@white19
I have had bleeding from week 5-7 and now again at week 8/9. It's varied from red to brown with some small clots. Never fully been soaking pads but almost always there when wiping.
I had an EPU scan at 5 weeks and then they rescanned at 7 weeks and although I'd continued to bleed there had been development from just the sac through to now an embryo with a heartbeat matching our dates so they were not concerned in the slightest.
So don't lose hope! Some stories you will hear are good and some are bad but you won't know until the rescan and they have to give it time for the baby to start to grow more so they can see development. I know it's really tough though, the tears and sleepless nights invested in this tiny person is huge. I think just some of us have bleeding and are more sensitive (I have always had bleeding after the intra vagainal scan wand too).
Fingers crossed for you

Thank you fingers crossed I find out all is good. But I'm hoping if it's a miscarriage it happens quick as spent the last two days in bed

Not a sonographer, but I am medical. Unfortunately a lot of people who have worked in medicine for any length of time become desensitised to those who have no training and the worries about the unknown. Like I said, I’m so sorry that this is troubling you.

I had a huge bleed at 7w3d, I mean full on period style bleed. There were clots and lumps. I was at a conference and bled in front of 300 of my colleagues, unmistakenly. No one who saw it believed it would be possible to have a baby still tucked up in there after that level of blood. But I had absolutely no cramping.

EPU couldn’t scan me on the day of the bleed so I had a 4day wait. And then saw a heartbeat. I’m 34w now with a healthy, busy bugger. No explanation for the bleed. Sometimes it just happens.

I had persistent spotting after that for about 3w which made me so nervous. It started about 24-36hrs after the scan. Eventually I had blood tests but only for reassurance that I had high hCG, a meaningless result without context, but had 12w scan days later and then the bleeding stopped.

No one will be able to tell you what will or won’t happen to your baby, but be reassured that your medical team aren't writing you off yet xx

I might ring them today to see if I can have a blood test .it worries me as been getting so much pain I have been in bed for the last 2 days and not sure I can cope much longer with this . My last miscarriage 4 months ago was over with after 2 days and then a weeks bleeding after that . I have other health problems that are getting effected by me staying in bed and not moving . I’m also not sleeping I got 3 hours last night .i know it sounds bad but if it’s a miscarriage I just want it over and done with

Just to update you I went for my scan this morning . They said it has grown slightly but still not as expected and the babies heart beat is to slow so I should expect a miscarriage. The consultant said they will rescan me in a weeks time and it's very very rare that it will be ok . I'm gutted and so upset
