Hi all,

Hope you are all well,
I have recently found out im expecting baby number 2 which will be our rainbow baby ,

We lost our beaitiful little girl at 24 weeks in january this year due to severe early onset preeclampisa.
Although im scared and filled with worry and excitment , i cant help but think maybe there is something i can do this time to prevent this from happening.
I have already been urine sampled with protein showing up already. ( 5 weeks )
Is this normal for early pregnancy ?
Im not being seen untill 7 weeks so im terrified .

I have thought about doing some pregnancy yoga or something similar,
Would anyone recomend this or have any ideas that could help me stay as relaxed as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the loss of your daughter FlowersFlowers

Have you seen your gp? They might give you some medication to bring your blood pressure down and decrease the protein. I'm not sure what it is called but my aunty was diagnosed with pre eclampsia and she had to change medicen twice before they delivered her daughter at 34 weeks. At the end she used to go to the pre eclampsia clinic twice a week while pregnant. You are high risk pregnancy as you know so gp should refeer you to the correct place. My aunty was told to reduce stress and no salt. Sorry I don't know how helpful that is. You can speak to Sands charity about the loss of your dd, you can even email them. Well I did as when I called them a few years back and couldn't talk because of the tears, I was told I could email which helped a lot.

Thankyou,
Ive seen my gp who did the urine test, which has been sent of to the lab.
Ive been told once i get to my first scan at 7 weeks its all systems go from then on, ill be on baby asprin and daily injections ( not sure what the medication for injections is called ) along with weekly monitoring .
I feel confident ill be ok i just need to stay calm and like you said reduce stress etc.

Do you no anyone that has tried pregnancy yoga with a high risk pregnancy ?

Thanks :)

There are a couple of pre-eclampsia support groups on the internet, they have telephone support, too.
They will listen and understand your worries.
Good luck with your pregnancy x

My only experience with the pregnancy yoga is one teacher wouldn't touch me until I was 12 weeks. it might be different everywhere though x

Chillisauceboss · 21/09/2019 14:22

I did pregnancy yoga. I think it will only reduce stress if you like exercise / yoga type movements.

What relaxes you in general?

Maybe cooking / walks / good TV / meeting up with friends for a meal?

Lots of good meditation apps now which you may like to reduce stress.

I liked yoga because it was one hour a week of no chores / no phone / no talking and I could essentially do as much of as little of the poses that my body allowed. It also concentrated lots on breathing which helped me labour.

Good luck

Thankyou for all of your advice,
I will deffinalty look into the preeclampisia support groups.

Im usually quite an active/ sporty person so yoga was recomended for me and ive been told to wait untill 12 weeks also to start that .
Think im deffinatly going to try it out 😁

I'm sorry for the loss of your daughter Thanks

My local sands did a 'next pregnancy' support group. The women I met there are still my friends today. It was a very special group because we all understood that rainbow pregnancies are so very different. And I wouldn't have felt comfortable going to the normal support group whilst pregnant.

Does your local sands have a group just for mums pregnant after loss?

sophieIvy · 23/09/2019 16:19

Thankyou ,

That sounds great ill have a look on their website but i dont think they do have a 'next pregnancy' support group near me.

The hospital have advised me today that they are in the process of setting up a rainbow support group :)

Op so sorry for your loss. I can personally recommend pregnancy yoga. I've got a stressful job and once a week it helps me relax. Have you looked at booking on a hypnobirth class?

sophieIvy · 23/09/2019 20:46

Thankyou,
Thats reassuring , im deffinatly looking into yoga for 12 weeks onwards.

Ive never heard of hypnobirth classes before, ill do a little research on that , thankyou.

Are you on heparin and aspirin? If not try and get to the EPAU to see a consultant asap.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 24/09/2019 13:20

See a consultant and get on aspirin asap if you have a history of pre-eclampsia (obviously, see a consultant first to make sure it's not contra-indicated for you for any reason). I've been on 150mg every day since conception (IUI) for this reason.

sophieIvy · 24/09/2019 20:47

Thankyou for giving me the heads up ill be calling my consultant tomorow to double check but for the time being i have been told by doctors to wait untill im seen at 7 weeks at the EPU .
Im on no medication attal so thats worrying...
Im literally taking folic acid
I will be calling my consultant first thing.

Op hypnobirth is breathing techniques that's all I know really but I'm also considering it. It helps with birth apparently but can't do any harm before
