Harmony test - is it worth it?

Is a Harmony test just a blood test or does it involve a scan as well? Is there any advantage to having a Harmony test done compared with going through the usual process with the NHS?

I know the Harmony test can tell you the sex of the baby as early as 11 or 12 weeks (so that’s definitely one advantage if you’re keen to find out!) Can it show whether you have toxoplasmosis as well?

I did both the harmony and the NHS screening but that was because in Scotland (where I live) the NHS screening only tests for Downs and not the other trisomies. You also don't get a 'score' for risk, it's just high or low and that wasn't enough for me because I'm 39, so felt additional screening would make me more comfortable.

Hi,

depending on what your issue is, personally I would say it was 100% worth the money. im 24 and we were told i had 1-34 chances of having a down syndrome baby, which absolutely devastated me, this is my first child and I wouldnt really know where to begin. I did the harmony test which is non evasive and via the DNA they pull from your blood they can give you a definitive low or high risk and the false positive results are much much lower than the screening test, we have been worried sick waiting for these results to come back which thankfully came back low risk, and of course you find out the sex of the baby!

I really would urge anyone who is struggling with the screening test and the results given to go for the Harmony test, it shocks me that this isnt an NHS based test with the results being so accurate and the screening test results being so inaccurate!

hope this helps someone who is looking for a should i, shouldnt i answer :)
