Hi ladies, for those that have them...
Just curious to know when your stretch marks appeared?

Hiphopopotamous · 20/09/2019 20:28

First pregnancy didn't get any, second time 3 days before the baby came Sad

Abibranning · 20/09/2019 20:28

41 weeks I was so smug til then

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 20/09/2019 20:31

Another one who got stretch marks about a week after my second was born..

SoyDora · 20/09/2019 20:35

DD1 I didn’t get any.
DD2 at 40 weeks (born at 40+2).
DS1 they appeared about a week after giving birth!

neverornow · 20/09/2019 20:37

36 weeks...thought I'd gotten away with it but nope

chickenyhead · 20/09/2019 20:38

39 weeks

SeraphinaDombegh · 20/09/2019 20:46

Around 29 or 30 weeks. I was so smug before that - I was rubbing cocoa butter into my bump every day and was convinced I'd managed to avoid stretch marks as a result. Then, overnight - BAM. Covered in them. The cocoa butter did bollocks all Grin

blueskiesbrighteyes · 20/09/2019 20:46

None, until a week after I'd given birth :( don't stop using the cream!

Harvey3 · 20/09/2019 20:50

20 weeks despite bio oil. Don't think the creams etc make any difference, it's just genetics sadly!

Ghost88 · 20/09/2019 21:07

Thanks all! I’m 19+5 today and not got any yet! I’m naturally slim but I’m covered on my thighs etc from teens which have never bothered me! I’m moisturising daily and wondered if it makes any difference!
I know we shouldn’t care as we’re growing a human and it’s so amazing but I really hope I avoid them! I just think from my legs I’m bound to get them at some point...

Very early on for me - I think late first trimester or early second

Branster · 21/09/2019 14:55

Ghost88 I’m not sure how much difference it makes, but keep moisturising. As I said I used everything and it made no difference in the end. Also try pure vitamin E oil (Health Aid do one in a bottle with pink label), on your bust, tummy and backside. I’ve always been slim so that might be a factor no idea. I hope you won’t get any but if you do, they really won’t be the end of the world. Enjoy your pregnancy, it truly is a miracle if you think how amazing the human body is to adapt to such a change and nurture a tiny mini you for 9 months!

Cotswoldmama · 21/09/2019 15:26

I didn't get any. I used cocoa butter oil the first time but couldn't be arsed the second and still didn't get any. It's supposed to be hereditary. I'm not sure though my mum got one per child and had 4 children, I've got nine my full sister got not my half sister got quite a lot! So maybe it's just luck!

Cotswoldmama · 21/09/2019 15:27

None not nine!

Karkasaurus · 21/09/2019 15:30

Neither me, my mother, or my sister have any stretchmarks. It's absolutely genetic. Best checking with female members of your family if you want to know how likely it is you'll get them.

Branster · 21/09/2019 20:23

I don’t believe It is genetic, my mother and both grandmothers didn’t get any but I did. I don’t think it has anything to do with shape or size either, both my mother and her mother slim didn’t get any, me also always slim but got them. Confused
I should be a bit jealous but I get insanely happy for friends of mine who don’t get them during their pregnancies.

SoyDora · 21/09/2019 20:25

I think ‘genetics’ is a bit too simplistic. My mum got them quite badly with both DC. I didn’t get them with my first, so if I’d stuck at one I wouldn’t have had any. Got some with my second (she was huge) in the 40th week. No new ones with my third.

tomboytown · 21/09/2019 20:30

I didn’t get any with a 10 lb, my mum didn’t either with three 9 lb’s

Dhalandchips · 21/09/2019 20:32

Genetics innit. You'll either get them or not. I was very fortunate. Not one!

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 21/09/2019 22:24

I have one tiny one already at 19 weeks - I barely have a bump! Goodness knows what I’ll look like by the end Confused

BillyAndTheSillies · 21/09/2019 22:43

DC1 they appeared on my due date, but not many.

This time around at 36 weeks I don't have any new ones and my old ones have stayed silver.

aintnutinchanged · 21/09/2019 23:09

Few days before giving birth thought I had managed to escape but 3rd one done it lol

DramaAlpaca · 21/09/2019 23:12

I was genetically lucky, three pregnancies & no stretch marks.

WhispersOfWickedness · 21/09/2019 23:19

None, I went overdue both times by 2 weeks and still nothing. I had tiny bumps despite being good sized babies though (think my body is long).
I got tonnes on my thighs and hips during puberty, so it doesn't necessarily follow that you will get them in pregnancy if you already got them in puberty though.
