Feeling aggy - just got a negative

Basically just want to moan🤦🏽‍♀️ Stupidly been convincing myself for the past few weeks that I'm pregnant. Had sore boobs, sore back, nausea, cravings, feeling sick at the thought of a salmon bagel which used to be my fave. Headaches, tiredness, emotional, bloated, spacey and just generally 'felt different'. The only thing that is no different is that single bloody pink line on the PT. I knew not to get my hopes up but I still did and I feel like I've been punched in the gut. Due on my period in 5-6 days so looking forward to that coming on as an extra little kick me when I'm down😔 don't mean to be dramatic but I'm SO fed up.

You're still really really early for a positive test. Don't let yourself get down yet.

kylieeee · 20/09/2019 15:39

@AnnoyedByAlfieBear I've just lost all hope, I thought even early testing might show a faint line but it's completely blank. I think I just got my hopes up too much x

How long have you been trying, and what test are you using? It's too early really for even the most sensitive test.

Clocktimer · 20/09/2019 16:12

I don’t want to get your hopes up again - but I tested negative (no faint line or anything) 3 days before my period. The day after I missed it, I got a positive.

You definitely tested too early if your period isn’t due for another 5-6 days!

Maybe impossible - but try and put it out your mind for now. If you’re late, test again (or if you have a spare test, test on your period’s due date!).

MoonbeamBonnet · 20/09/2019 16:15

Virtually no one would get a positive 5 or 6 days before their period is due. But how have you been convincing yourself you’re pregnant for a couple of weeks? That means you’d have started having symptoms before you even ovulated.

Clocktimer · 20/09/2019 16:24

(should also add that - when I got the negative - i used one of those expensive tests that says it can predict early!)

lunaland · 20/09/2019 16:30

I took a test 4 days before my period was due and it was negative- took another test on the day after my period was due and it was positive. It's not a definite negative at this point op!

Oysterbabe · 20/09/2019 16:35

Why on earth are you testing? It is way too early. Wait until the day your period is due, that way you can trust the result. All youre doing is adding to your frustration and uncertainty.

MmmBlowholes · 20/09/2019 16:36

Agree with PPs you'd never get a positive so early

thatwasMauijustmessingaround · 20/09/2019 16:41

I never got a positive 5 days before my period was due. More like 2-3.

thatwasMauijustmessingaround · 20/09/2019 16:42

And yes, that was with a FRER

tacosplease · 20/09/2019 16:49

Give it a couple more days OP and you could very well get an entirely different result!

Bol87 · 20/09/2019 17:35

@kylieeee - you can’t get pregnancy symptoms until the egg has implanted, so around a week after ovulation and a week before your period. Your body cannot recognise pregnancy until implantation, before that baby is just a mass of multiplying cells floating along in your tubes!

So around now, if you were pregnant, the embryo would be implanting & starting to increase your hormones.. so don’t lose heart. But also don’t sit there all month symptom spotting. It’ll drive you insane. Symptoms will start to appear up to 7 days before your period but most likely much closer to your period when those hormones really ramp up!

sep30 · 20/09/2019 23:06

If it gives any hope I did a test on a Friday and it was a complete negative and on the Sunday morning I had three positive tests, don't lose hope just yet!

kylieeee · 21/09/2019 10:28

Thank you so much for all of your replies. Feel a bit silly today, I think I wrote that in the heat of the moment, I was feeling a little bit sensitive! Your all right, it's far too early to tell so I'm just going to wait it out and see what happens. I think I've just wanted this for so long I've convinced myself it won't. I've got my patient head back on today lol. Thank you for all the encouragement xxx

Moan away, that is what we are here for and so many of us can sympathise. After ttc for two years, I absolutely understand the disappointment.
It is really really early though!
Have faith. You’re not out yet xxx Good luck xx

CalamityJune · 21/09/2019 11:37

Don't drive yourself mad with symptom spotting. I'm currently pregnant for the 4th time (1 DS, 2 mc) and I never feel any different whatsoever until about week 6-7 when I might get more tender breasts. Symptom spotting is pointless.

MyKingdomForBrie · 21/09/2019 11:41

You wouldn't have had symptoms for a few weeks as you only ovulate a couple of weeks before your period. You don't have symptoms from the pregnancy until the zygote has implanted and your body will then start to react to it and produce the correct hormones.

Like pp have said that's too early even for a FRER!

Mamabear12 · 21/09/2019 12:09

I used cheapo tests, for 2-3 days before my period when on holiday as we were drinking daily (2-3 glasses of wine or a cocktail and a glass or two). So obviously didn’t want to drink if I was pregnant. Daily I got a negative until the day my period was due. I got a faint positive. Almost could not believe my eyes. I had no symptoms other then my period coming. I was so convinced my period was coming I brought tampons and pads! I was bloated and even had the usual spotting before period. Stopped drinking the rest of the holiday and here I am 27 weeks pregnant 😀 so don’t get too upset until your actual period comes.
