Pregnant, but I had a period?!

Hiya!

Im wondering if anyone else has been through this!

I had what I thought was a 3 day period on the 6th September. It stopped and I was clear for 7 days. For the past 5 days now I have been spotting.

12th September I did an opk. It was positive. It remained positive for 5 days straight. Thought to myself somethings up. Did a pregnancy test...POSITIVE. Jaw dropped. Total confusion.

Went to the doctors yesterday, did another test. Positive again. I've been referred for a scan on Wednesday. She says unless I fill a pad in an hour there's nothing to worry about...I'm not so sure! Confused

Doesn't feel real. I've bled and it's been red! Had pinkish discharge last 5 days. Liner usually has blood on it, but not soaked. Period was light, no clots, but red. It's odd. Not too sure what to think!

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

can't say from personal experience, but have heard that it's possible to have periods when you're pregnant. wait and see! Congratulations if you are!

I had a red 1.5 day “period” and a positive test three days later when I wondered why it had never got going.

@newname30 what happened to you? How many weeks do you think you are? I'm still spotting 😔 it worries me!

I had my urine sample results back and accordingly levels were 'extremely high' but Im still unsure!

@LividLaughLove - mine was 3 days with 2 days spotting before - not unusual for me, but was 2/3 days early (I'm usually a 27:28 day cycle!) x

I’ve been spotting since I found out I was pregnant a week ago! Today I had bright red blood at one point but now back to spotting. Never had this with my first.

I had what I thought was a light period then discovered a week or so later that I was pregnant with DS2. No idea why but I didn't have any more bleeding after that. It was strange- didn't have anything like that with DS1.

I had a 5 day period a month into my pregnancy. It arrived around the time I was due on so I didn't even find out I was pregnant until I'd already hit 8 weeks as it was only then that my body skipped a period. And I didnt even realise it how far along I was then... wasn't until the 12 week scan when they told me I was actually 16 weeks! Oops! If you're fairly early on, I would try not to worry too much. A friend of a friend had periods throughout and only found out she was pregnant at about 32 weeks!

I'm currently 11 weeks with a pregnancy that started like this.

I had what I thought was a period bang on schedule, but it was very light and very short. About 4 days later I had a positive pregnancy test. A few days after that I started spotting and this lasted for over two weeks.

I had a scan at 6 weeks, which revealed a small haematoma, but this is apparently not in itself problematic. The bleeding stopped not long after, and as far as I can tell the pregnancy is continuing as normal.

I had two normal (for me) periods when I was pregnant. Didn't know anything was up till I was over three months gone and DS was dated at 22 weeks at the 12 week scan!

I had a 'normal' period when I was first pregnant (can't remember how long but guessing 3 or 4 days of proper bleeding as didn't make me suspicious at all) and also realised I was pregnant after some early blazing positive OPKs!

Absolutely shit myself that something must have gone wrong, but had a healthy pregnancy with no more bleeding.

Fingers crossed it's just one of those weird things for you and everything is good! x

I'm on my third pregnancy and this has happened to me every time (healthy babies twice before and nearly 30 weeks with the current one). I tend to have a slightly early 'period' that is a bit shorter than usual but otherwise what you would expect. No idea why it happens but I've also had bleeding on and off throughout each pregnancy with no known cause.

It can happen, with this baby I was really down in the dumps because of getting my period and then turned out to be pregnant!

I didn't have periods as such but I bled none stop for 6 weeks with my first pregnancy and 5 weeks with my second. It's very disconcerting and really quite horrible, I remember it well the dread of going to the toilet/ early scans etc. I have never had a miscarriage by the way and have 2 children from those 2 pregnancies.

I didn't realize I was pregnant till ten weeks with my second because I had a period.

I had a proper 5 day period when I was already pregnant. I was clueless that I was pregnant so thought it was a normal period. It was only when I went for an early scan when I later found out I was pregnant that they told me I was four weeks further along than I thought.

No one could really explain the “period” but I didn’t bleed after that one.

My mum had a period, then found out she was pregnant with me. She was really confused. Still is whenever she mentions it.

Wow thank you so much for all of your posts. It's lovely to hear other people's s experiences!

I'll update you all on Wednesday after my scan.

I'm not going to lie. It certainly doesn't feel real. It's an odd feeling to say the least!

Trying not to get too excited/carried away...I'm sure I will Wednesday though' x

So I said I'd update.

It's not great news sadly.

(Excuse the non medical language!)

I had a tummy scan - it showed no signs, bar a 5cm cyst on one of my ovaries.

Did another pregnancy test, came up pregnant (over a week later than my first test)

Did the vaginal scan, nothing.

Took bloods and need to go back Friday to establish if it's ectopic or miscarriage from what I can work out.

So not good news all in all! :(

I had mines very light up to five months pregnant. I was sick with worry, doctors couldn’t understand it. My sons a healthy 9 year old now x

I thought I would update you all again.

Had my second blood test today & my levels have dropped. I discovered my levels were only at 100 HCG on Wednesday anyway.

No idea what has happened this month at all.

I have to return in a week for another blood test.

Im definitely not pregnant, it's unlikely now it's ectopic, so must have been a miscarriage, but not one that's been any different to a period.

I'm really confused been struggling to conceive after I had my daughter whose now 5. I dont know if what I'm having its Phantom pregnancy or I'm losing my mind. December I had unprotected sex hoping we get pregnant but when I was supposed to have implantation January I got dark brown and light bleeding I got excited then boom the next day I got light bleeding then heavy flow bleeding, I ruled it unsuccessful.
I went back to 7 days fasting for losing weight.

To my surprise week 6 I had pregnancy symptoms then got excited later next month I got my period I then ruled it again as unsuccessful. February. I decided no it's a false alarm and moved on.

Then March 2021 I was supposed to get my periods on the 25 and it didn't come and its 31 days past, I feel nausea like I'm about to get a period but nothing comes. I've never had 31 days without a period before.
Please what could be wrong with me

You don't say whether you've taken a pregnancy test lately? Sorry, you're going through this, I don't have any experience with this but I think you might receive more replies if you start your own post rather than posting on an old one.
