Gestational diabetes test

Midwife said I have sugar + in urine. I'm 17 weeks. Need a gestational diabetes test early because of it. I'm terrified as I had one as routine before and couldn't keep the stuff down. I threw up and felt dizzy. How can I keep it down?

Are you suffering sickness generally or is it just the gross drink which you think will set you off?!
The first time I had it done you could provide your own drink (as long as it had enough sugar in) so I had Lucozade which is at least fizzy and I could make sure it was cold.
Might be worth chatting to your midwife to find a compromise on the toxic orange crap they provide.

Well I'm suffering with bad morning sickness anyway but I just reacted badly to it last time. 20 mins on and that was it. I nearly passed out and vomited in front of everyone. I will ask about a different drink. I'd prefer lucozade lol

I had jelly beans instead of a drink.

Oh no. I am being sent in the same direction and am worried about this now! Although I am abit further along at 23 weeks.

Ask for the lucozade! Although if it shows up as being high after that they will make you drink the vile stuff 🤢

I had it last week, it was a small cup of drink. Like a slightly strong lemon and barley cordial? Might it have changed since last time you did it? She told me that it used to be three cups of fizzy lucosade a few years back. I honestly didn't struggle to keep it down or anything?

Maybe its changed. It was orange tasting but warm and just weird Haha someone said to sip it as o think I might have gulped it down too quick last time.

I had mine a couple of weeks ago it was like a lucozade pouch thing and just quite sweet and orange flavoured. It was much better than I thought!

I think it might depend on the hospital and what they have available. My GTT was some 5 weeks ago and they prepared just warm sugar water, so sugary my teeth were hurting. Also I asked the nurse if I can sip it, but she said I have to finish 2 glasses within 2 min
