Having another baby after a DVT and PE?

Hi my last pregnancy I got a large DVT and also 2 blood clots in my lungs. It was a very scary time.
My specialist has said there's no reason not to have another baby as they will put me on blood thinning injections the whole pregnancy to stop it happening again.
My worry is that it will still happen even tho the specialist has said that I will be safe on the blood thinners.

Has anyone else gone on to have more children after DVT or PE?
Xx

The specialist is correct in that you will have to be put on anticoagulant injections throughout your pregnancy and for at least 6 weeks post delivery. It would be extremely unusual and unlucky to have another clot while following the treatment advice to the letter.
You will be seen by a haematologist and supervised throughout.
The haematologist will need a clear family history from you, so it is worth asking around now.
Sorry you had all that to deal with. Having a PE is a very frightening and traumatic thing to go through.
Have you been warned not to use hormonal contraception?

@Kel55 I’ve just found out I’m pregnant today and I had the same happen to me in my previous pregnancy. The Clexane injections were awful!

I’m going to do another test tomorrow to be sore and then call the GP to get some new injections and a referral back to Haematology.

I also have the same worries but we should be okay on the blood thinners Flowers

Hi yes I have been told I can't go on pill or have any HRT in the future. The specialist has also sent all this to my Drs so they know this too.

Thank you it was a horrendous thing to go through so scary and I don't even think I will be able to go through another pregnancy for fear of it happening again.

@TwinkleStars15 congratulations that's great news. Yes my specialist said we are safe on the injections. It doesn't stop us worrying tho does it.

@Kel55 Thank you. The line is very faint so going to test again tomorrow.

I had my DVT in October/November 2016 and my calf is still swollen, not too noticeable though and I doubt it will ever go completely now. I don’t get pain on a day to day basis, but if I run (which i try not to do too often lol) then it feels uncomfortable because I think it swells again. You?

My leg is very similar, it's the top part of my leg above knee to groin that is still swollen. I don't think it will ever go down now. It aches if I go on a long walk or run but most of the time it's ok. I do panic every time it starts aching tho. X
