Anterior placenta/no movement

I'm 17w4d and showing fairly well, I haven't had the flutters or seen my little girl move yet.

During my private scan when I was 16w4d they said I have an anterior placenta which I assume they will confirm at my 20 week scan.

Will having this mean I won't see or feel movements for a bit longer?

Is there a risk I may have to have a Caesarian if the placenta does not move?

I had an anterior placenta and didn’t feel anything till 21/22 weeks. Once I could though it increased quickly in frequency and strength. DH felt it about a week after I first did and within 6 or so weeks I was being distracted by her in meetings or when I was trying to sleep Smile

It shouldn’t have any impact on delivering, they’ll check it each scan.

Similar to PP I had anterior placenta with my first pregnancy and didn't feel movement until about 20 weeks. Other than that the anterior placenta doesnt seem to make any difference.

It will be a while before you can see movement (if you mean elbows sticking out here and there). Probably not until 3rd trimester

It depends really. I’ve had two babies with anterior and two with posterior and I felt one of the posterior ones the least and the other three were fairly similar.

If your placenta is covering your cervix you’ll need a c section but otherwise it won’t have an impact.

Similar to PP's, I also didn't feel much movement before week 20 with my AP and nothing consistent until week 24/25.

Now at 31 weeks, I feel movement all the time. Not so much kicks, but definite movement - and can often feel what I am sure is baby's back/bum on my right side with what I assume is legs under my ribs?? (Baby was head down at my appointment this week)

I haven't identified any body parts and movement isn't often visible - particularly not to others.

Hope this helps,

K

Thank you everyone for your reassurance, I thought it was good to check and rightly so! I will be patient for a couple more weeks then, it's all very exciting as she our first little one.
