Breasts not leaking milk or colostrum at 34 weeks - should I be worried?

I'm 34 weeks today with my first baby. My pregnancy app tells me that I should be leaking milk by now, but I'm not. I've even tried gently squeezing my nipples, but nothing is happening. Should I be worried about my milk supply, do you think? What are your experiences? Any advice gratefully received...

I never leaked at all in either pregnancy. Colostrum came through when babies started feeding.

I never had anything leaking pre birth with either dc, bf both of them. I didn’t worry about it.

I didn't leak at all with my first, breast fed him for 19 months with a copious supply, don't worry, if I remember correctly it's the release of hormones after the placenta is delivered which triggers the production so no need to worry before birth. Congratulations and good luck!

With my first I leaked from around 20 weeks, with my second I didn’t leak at all whilst pregnant. Had an abundant supply both times once my milk came in and managed to feed more than 2 years with both! Mention it to your midwife to ease your worry but it should be fine.

I breast fed my ds for 8 months and he had his first feed at 20 minutes old. Up until the point he latched on I never leaked a drop and was never able to express anything either. I'm 36 weeks with number 2 and not leaking a drop this time either. I would not worry, honestly :)

I’ve successfully BF children (with oversupply). I never once leaked milk/colostrum during pregnancy.

Thanks, lots of quick and reassuring replies Smile I feel better already!

Loads of people never leak. Leaking or not leaking has no bearing whatsoever on your ability to BF once the baby arrives. It's just something that some people do and some people don't for no reason.

Colostrum is only made in small quantities anyway. Breastfeeding is supply and demand, the more milk that is removed, the more milk is made.
