When did your jeans stop fitting?!

My jeans are so uncomfortable!- everything else fits ok. Can't work out of its because I'm eating too much or it's bloating and waist thickening- I'm only 10 weeks!!!

When do I get the maternity jeans and the dress and so on. Also I'm on holiday when 20 weeks so would I need maternity things for that?

Anyone find the same with the jean- I hope I'm not alone!

Don't worry - at 10 weeks it's likely to be bloating, your bump might actually go down in a couple of weeks' time. First trimester bloating sucks!

Jesskir89 · 16/09/2019 20:44

My bump 2 weeks ago looked huge and has now gone down again I'm nearly 14 weeks so was definately bloat but yes I would say at 20 weeks to take loose clothes with you

Preggosaurus9 · 16/09/2019 20:45

Bloating in first trimester is a thing!

Once that calms down, with first baby you may not have much of a bump til 20 weeks or more.

Tableclothing · 16/09/2019 20:52

I went into maternity gear at about 8 weeks. It's just so darn comfortable. I didn't actually start to gain weight until 16/17 weeks but I was just so bloated that normal clothes were impossible. I've seen people saying that they managed with bump bands etc until they were 25+ weeks, but I had no chance.

Re: holiday gear. Yes, it is likely/possible you'll need new stuff (ballooning boobs meant that even though I could technically wear (some of) the same clothes, what had been perfectly modest became four inches of cleavage, which I'm not comfortable with). Don't buy it too soon.

But everyone's different. You just have to try stuff on and see what you think.

Congratulations Flowers

7/8 weeks due to huge amounts of bloating.

Lovely mumsnetters suggested underbunp jeans for this awkward stage. It was a brilliant suggestion.

KimKardash · 16/09/2019 20:56

About 6 weeks here with my second I was so bloated and anything remotely tight made me nauseous

blazerbranch · 16/09/2019 21:00

Thanks everyone that's reassuring to hear.
@Tableclothing definitely interested in the comfort of the maternity clothes!!!

Trying to wait as long as possible before i buy holidays clothes. I don't think there with be that much summer stuff left in mid November!

Definitely need to cut back on the food too as luckily no nausea but eating to much and unhealthily!

I've been struggling to do mine up more or less since I found out and I'm 9 weeks now. I'm still the same weight but I've been on the sofa eating rubbish with nausea for 4 weeks so feel I've lost all muscle tone too. I've got a very visible and uncomfortable spare tyre if I do my jeans up. 🙈

Doughnot · 16/09/2019 21:02

It's so varied. One of my pregnancies I didn't buy any maternity gear and wore jeans til the end. The next I needed maternity trousers by 20 weeks. This time round I'm figuring I'll need them around 20 weeks too, but won't be surprised if it's sooner or later. I'd say get a few maternity bits in before your holiday, but if first baby then mainly just pack looser regular clothes? It's a bit of a minefield!

BeanBag7 · 16/09/2019 21:06

I'm 14 weeks and technically my jeans still fit but they're so uncomfortable! I think I went in to maternity jeans at around the same time last time

blazerbranch · 16/09/2019 21:09

Great ideas thanks all. Seems so variable and at least I'm not alone! @LolaSmiles great idea about the under bump ones I see if I ca find some to try.

@janey15 i hope you are feeling a bit better Thanks

I was 9-10 weeks due to bloating, alot of my jeans are high waisted and felt so uncomfortable that I just lived in leggings in the first trimester.

rottiemum88 · 16/09/2019 21:13

I seem to remember going for my 20 week scan in my regular jeans, but not being able to get them on much after that. They were fairly low waisted though, which probably made a bit of a difference...

McHelenz · 16/09/2019 21:35

I bought some maternity jeans about 9 weeks 🙈

snowone · 16/09/2019 22:05

I think I was about 16 weeks with DC1 when I gave in to maternity.....with DC2 I was in mothercare about an hour after the 12 weeks scan Grin
