Im not sure if anyone can help me.... I am in two minds whether to do hypnobirthing classes at our local birthing centre, or to get the online positive birthing company digital course, has anyone got experiences of both of them or heard feedback from anyone who has to compare the two? Thank you so much

I got the Positive Birthing Co digipack because I wasn’t sure hypnobirthing would work with me (I have a very busy mind and struggle to close off) and didn’t want to waste hundreds of pounds on HB classes that weren’t useful. The digipack cost me £18 in a sale so has been very cost effective.

I’m enjoying the digital classes very much and don’t think I would get much more from a course at a wellness centre to be honest. I’m easily distracted and prefer to do classes when I choose, rather than having to mentally prepare prior to a scheduled lesson elsewhere. I’ve done classes in the night when I couldn’t sleep, or on a Sunday morning before I get up, you know...freedom to choose when I’m in the right frame of mind.

Of course, I’ve not taken formal classes, this is just my experience and everyone is very different 😊

I done the positive birth company - I found it very helpful until I was in the fastest labour (in the world!)
Well not the world but you get the point. Breathing techniques helped until I was in second stage, and the science helped me understand what was happening. I would recommend it.
I don’t think it ‘worked’ as well as I expected it to however I look at my whole birthing experience in a positive way (even though it had some negative aspects!)

I have been doing both. I find my classes so much more useful as I have someone to discuss my anxieties with and we are able to adapt scripts as we go along.

I did the classes and with that came mp3s and online resources. I am finding the PBC digital pack good as a refresher with my 2nd pregnancy but not sure how much I would have taken in as 'independent learning' really.

You only get to give birth once for the first time. Only you will go through the labour and in my mind, it's worth the investment in yourself. It's not an insignificant amount of money to do the classes but first babies are expensive things what with a pram, car seat blah blah blah. It's not a waste of money to spend on classes that'll help you experience birth in a positive way for the first time (which may help your recovery, breastfeeding experience etc etc).

Badically go for it!

First time round I did a course at London Hypnobirthing (£300 or so) and this fine round I've used the £30 Positive Birth Company online course. I can honestly say the £30 course has been better, largely because you can refer back to all the materials and videos constantly.

If the course is really cheap I'd do it but otherwise the PBC online course should be everything you need. It also comes with a private facebook group for support and loads of great positive birth stories.

If you have a wise hippo class near you they are fantastic. You have access to all of the resources online so that you can keep practising at home.

I bought the Positive Birth Company course for £5 last month when it was on a flash sale. I looked into Hypnobirthing courses locally but they were upwards of £350.

Check to see if your local hospital runs hypnobirthing classes. Ours does and it's £100 which I'm prepared to pay.
