Hi does anyone else have this extreme fatigue I am shattered. I think maybe it's because I go to bed around midnight and wake up about 8. I'm trying not to nap during the day and get into an earlier bed time routine, but I can't do it

I am tired I wake up tired I actually feel I could sleep for months actually. I am wondering if it's worth going to the doctors or speak to a midwife?.

My next appointment isn't until 28 weeks where I'll have bloods done I was taking iron supplements as I guessed I'm low on iron but after having black vomit I stopped. Just don't feel normal at all.

Do you know what your Haemoglobin (it would be on your notes as Hb) was at booking?

It could be normal fatigue but it’s probably worth booking an appointment to see your midwife or GP.

Oh how annoying! Definitely call your midwife then! I was just wondering if it was already borderline low at the start of your pregnancy. Are you having any dizziness or palpitations?

sodrained · 16/09/2019 12:49

@TinyMystery it is so annoying! It's really pushed as the greatest thing ever, but nothing's bloody wrote on it so how it's helpful I don't know. I will call them tomorrow and just ask once the other two are at school, I keep having dizzy spells no palpitations though.

Sounds like a rough time @sodrained. The fatigue was unreal, never experienced anything like it before. breathless and dizzy too. I kept kidding myself that I was just tired as I have two other small children but eventually came to the conclusion that I just didn't feel right and visited GP as I wasn't able to function.

I had low iron too (level of 14) and took the tablets but didn't vomit taking them. It did take a good 3 weeks of taking them to feel like I had some of my mojo back. My blood test 4 weeks later has an iron level of 23 but my doctor said that this isn't enough to get me through the rest of pregnancy and the bleeding post baby could cause anaemia. I will most likely need to take them whilst breast feeding also.

If you are worried, please get your black vomit checked out and they can perhaps prescribe an alternative iron supplement if it's making you feel unwell. I struggled to take mine on an empty stomach at first as they made me feel nauseous so had a little food and some orange juice with it (just not milk, chocolate, coffee or tea as these hinder absorption).

Did the doctor prescribe your iron tablets or have you just been taking low level top ups?

sodrained · 16/09/2019 13:56

@snowflakeeel Hi I just started taking them to try and help but I think because now most days I've started vomiting I'm not actually absorbing anything vitamin wise at all now. I can't seem to stay awake for long periods of time anymore. I'm going to speak to the doctor tomorrow and just see if they'll give me a blood test now instead of waiting for my 28 week bloods I have those forms already. It is becoming a horrible experience now this pregnancy Sad

Glad you're seeing your GP tomorrow. Absolutely push for a blood test. The iron tablets you get over the counter aren't as high as the prescription ones so if you are low you won't feel much difference. Your tiredness and vomiting could also be symptoms for a few things but a blood test should help to take the first steps toward finding out. Also get them to check proteins in your urine whilst you're there.

I haven't enjoyed this pregnancy at all either. the first two were a breeze, this one has been littered with drama! Hope you get some answers soon. X

@snowflakeeel Thank You I will let you know how it goes tomorrow and that's the same with me the first two pregnancies were lovely and straight forward, this one has been the worst from the moment I found out, random bleeds, pains, now this it's just not stopped x
