That's it really. I was due to have my wee girl on the 15th Dec but she had other plans and arrived 3 months to the day she was meant to be.

She's only 870g but she's a wee fighter and a fiesty wee thing so hopefully she'll keep on going with the battle.

She was ventilated but is managing to breathe on her own. She's currently on cpap and we're taking it a day at a time

Good luck to you both and congratulations!

Congratulations ! Does she have a name yet ?

surlycurly · 16/09/2019 06:06

How exciting and terrifying in equal measure. I'm sure she's a beautiful wee thing. When she's 15 and driving you nuts you'll think back to this period in disbelief. Congratulations and love to you and your LO.

Thanks guys. Yup it's quite a scary situation to be in and I don't think we're quite over the shock yet.

Her wee name is Morgan and she's such a tiny little thing.

Congratulations on your lovely baby.
There’s an excellent book by Tommy’s called “Having a premature baby”. There were copies available in the family room in our NICU. Might be worth a read during those long days sitting by the incubator.

Lovely name ❤️

flumpybear · 16/09/2019 06:35

Congratulations!! Lovely name too. Many children born very early live normal lives but it must be quite scary for you just now - hope all goes well and don't forget to take as much help and support as you need from your family and friends

Do you know why she came so early?

KatieMurr · 16/09/2019 07:09

They think I have an infection so I'm getting treated with antibiotics atm as is she. They took loads of blood to test and took the placenta too which should give them a reason why she was so early fingers crossed.

The placenta test could take up to 12 weeks to come back though.

squishee · 16/09/2019 07:21

Congratulations on your new baby!
FWIW my DM could have written your post, more than 40 years ago. I think I was dressed in dolls' clothes to start with.

AryaNoOne · 16/09/2019 07:24

Congratulations on your feisty little girl - I’m so pleased she is breathing on her own. Best wishes for both of you to recover soon.

Paddy1234 · 16/09/2019 07:24

Congratulations ❤️

BigFatLiar · 16/09/2019 07:38

Congratulations on your little girl. I hope she goes from strength to strength and brings you a lot of happiness.

Azure83 · 16/09/2019 07:49

Gosh, I'm due 17th of December and keep checking the odds of 'if the baby is born at 25 weeks, 26, 27...' and just hoping she doesn't come too early!
Sounds like your little one is doing best she can. Finger crossed she'll be home well before Christmas! Congratulations Thanks

lovebeingmum9 · 16/09/2019 10:17

wow congratulations! I'm due 3rd of December and can't imagine how scary it must have been for you to go into labour so early! I hope you both recover well and can enjoy Christmas together at home Xx

KatieMurr · 16/09/2019 16:13

Aww thanks guys. It's really been a sureal 24 hrs.

She had a good night and she's not relying on the cpap to breathe. Got to give her a containment hug earlier so she was giving us strong kicks which was great.

She certainly is a wee fighter.
