9 weeks pregnant and spotting

Hi.

Looking for some advice. I am 9 weeks pregnant and I am having some spotting. I was on a flight last Saturday when I began bleeding, it was quite a lot of blood and I was really worried. A prearranged scan the next day showed a healthy 8 week pregnancy. The Sonographer said my cervix was closed and that I shouldn't be concerned about the bleeding as she didn't pick up anything alarming in the scan.

A week later and the spotting has been on and off. Last night I had a small collection of blood, that was more like a period consistency but I'm never bleeding enough to leave anything in a sanitary towel.

I have no pain, my pg tests are still +, my symptoms are still present. Just wondering what other people's experience with spotting has been. Have tried calling EPU and may go after work tomorrow, but just wanted to hear other peoples experience.

Thanks

I had this during one pregnancy. I went to the clinic ASAP and was given some ?progesterone? pessaries and the spotting stopped and I had DC. Go as soon as you can and even if they say it's all okay, ask them why it's happening for your own peace of mind, and what you should do if it continues to happen. Good luck.

I had bleeding around that time and I’m now 16 weeks without any further spotting since 12 weeks. I was told to rest whenever I had bleeding; they didn’t know why it was happening but the medical view was that resting was better to be on the safe side

I had this at 9 weeks, funnily enough after a flight - which I’m sure is just a coincidence! There was a fair bit of blood but all checked out fine. I had brown spotting on and off until 12 weeks. 36 weeks now and all is fine x

@crosstalk thanks for that. Have just called EPU and they told me that they'd scan me but they won't do it tonight so I should go in tomorrow morning. The nurse wasn't very reassuring.

@user1493413286 That's good to hear. So pleased it all worked out for you. After last night when I was bleeding I've done next to nothing today so will carry on lying on the sofa whenever I can.

@Wiltshirelass2019 Funnily enough, whenever I go on a plane it would prompt a period so I'm sure that this bleeding was kick started by the plane. Glad that you have progressed so well! I had a MMC in May so I know how things can go. I was totally fine prior to the bleed, but I can't help but be a bit worried.

Thanks for all your responses. X

Totally understand your worry, I had a ruptured ectopic which started with bleeding but lots of pain too. The fact that you’re not in pain is a good sign. Have lots of rest and look after yourself 💕

Pip231018 of course I understand your worry, it’s all consuming, I hope it all goes well tomorrow. Keep us updated 💕

@Wiltshirelass2019 Hey. I didn't end up going to EPU. But I continued to bleed, having a bigger one on Wednesday. I'd booked an early scan, because EPU were just not helpful and I couldn't leave work. Anyway, had my scan today. Was measuring ahead 10+2 and a healthy heartbeat. Baby looks good and they said not to worry about the blood.
I also just wanted to thank you for your kind words last week! X
