Hi all,

I'm 4 weeks pregnant with my first baby and for the past 3 days I've been having some intermittent spotting ranging from dark brown to light pink to dark pink/almost red. Is this normal?

Starting to really panic Sad

It can be perfectly normal in a healthy pregnancy but it can also be a sign of miscarriage. 1/4 of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage and there is nothing that can be done at this stage to prevent a miscarriage.

It’s such a stressful time. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you. Flowers

Unfortunately it can go either way at this stage, it may just be one of those things and you continue to have a healthy pregnancy (this happened when I was pregnant with my first DD) or it may be an early miscarriage. Keeping everything crossed for you Flowers

I'm sorry you're going through this, I know how stressful it is. Afraid as PP have already said I think it can go either way. However, I had spots of blood at around 6 weeks and baby is now 8 months old. Can you go to your local Early Pregnancy Unit?

Thank you all for your replies! Flowers

Will try to not stress and keep an eye on it Smile

Yes I'd agree it's so difficult to tell at that stage, I've had a pregnancy with regular heavy bleeds throughout, total nightmare but resulted in perfectly healthy DS born on his due date, a miscarriage at 7 weeks and a fabulous 'perfect' no bleeding pregnancy resulting in DD.

Its so stressful and worrying, here's hoping it's nothing and sending you lots of luck Flowers

I had this with my 1st child although I was 8 weeks. I called the maternity ward and they told me as nicely as they could that there was nothing they could do. That baby is now 21 yrs old.

Flowers hope it all works out ok for x

I had an implantation bleed with my first two pregnancies which I mistook for a period both times. I was 8 weeks gone with both before I realised. Fingers crossed for you
