Why can't I sleep?!

Oh this is so unfair, why can't I get to sleep? I'm 21+2. Feeling very ungainly and sluggish already, but cosily propped on my left side in bed, perfectly comfortable, not too hot or cold... But it's two-and-a-half hours since we switched the light out and I'm still wide awake. Sleep just isn't coming. I've never been great at dropping off but this feels like a new low.

Doesn't help that DH is a lucky git who is consistently fast asleep (and snoring, I wear earplugs) within 30 seconds of lights out.

What can I do? I feel like I want to cry...

I've had this constantly. I'd get up, walk around and sit somewhere else for a bit. Maybe even have a snack (but not sugary!) then go back to bed later. I've been so exhuasted before that I'm almost in tears and fighting back my eyes closing and yet once I go upstairs to bed Confused

I think letting yourself have brief naps in the day is the only way and preparing for baby, as sleep at night is just a bit rubbish! Normally that wouldn't work but I think for pregnancy it's a must.

I can get to sleep fine, usually zonked by 7pm. But can I stay asleep after any wee post midnight?
NOPE.

Thanks for your message, ladies. I'm glad it's not just me. Fingers crossed for tonight!

I’ve been having this recently! No problem getting to sleep but as soon as I wake up in the middle of the night I’m awake for hours - I’ve found it best to accept I’m not getting back to sleep straight away and head downstairs and watch a bit of tv until I fall asleep again!
Apparently pregnancy insomnia is a thing!

Struggling too. 28 weeks. Fall asleep at 10 then wake for a pee at 2 and that's my lot. Absolutely shattered all day.

Hypnobirthing/Hypno sleep tracks on headphones.

It actually helps for preparing for sleepless nights with a baby, if it's any consolation.

I'm exhausted 24/7, but when I get into bed.. I'm in pain or heartburn or uncomfy or just suddenly wide awake.
I genuinely cried the other night I was that tired
