Random sickness question...

I'm 9 and 1/2 - 10 weeks and sickness has vamped up the past few days.

Brushing my teeth keeps making me gag, smells and lots of foods are bothering me and then today, at work, the feeling of the soap on my hands made me sick. (And just did again writing this).

Has this happened to anyone else? Or am I alone in the ridiculous sickness?!? 😂😂

@sophr72 I’m 8w and brushing my teeth makes me gag too! Annoying because you can’t really not brush your teeth for 9 months 🙈

sophr72 · 12/09/2019 19:35

@579kirsty yep! It's a nightmare! Feel so lucky though that I can't complain... it's just bizarre! X

Try a child's toothbrush or kids toothpaste.

It may not go the brushing teeth sickness. I'm 28 weeks and brushing my teeth still makes me gag at times. I had quite bad morning sickness and this still bothers me. My phobia of the freezer has passed though (hated the freezer and the smell of it!) and my partner's beautiful plant when it is in flower brings back the sickness feeling. The plant now lives outside when flowering Grin

Completely normal .. have a look back a few pages & there was a recent thread on what smells make people sick. Mine are:

Soap
Washing powder
Shampoo
Water - rain/shower/drinking
Toothpaste
My fridge
All cooking smells, particularly meat
I can’t bear windows open as fresh air makes me queasy when indoors
Coffee
Ginger
.. the list goes on!

It’s been a really fun couple months! 😩

I've had 24hr nausea since week 6. It got to the point where I couldn't eat, clean my teeth, stand upright etc. It was even waking me up in the night until I got some tablets from the dr. I'm really hoping it goes soon!
Hope you feel better soon x

I had this for all my pregnancies, turned out to be hypermedis Gravederium ( can’t spell it!) it’s what Kate Middleton had. I knew I was pregnant because of the sickness. I got these herbal tea bags from amazon and sickness bands which worked for a bit. I had pregnancy Bon bons from Amazon too. Plain rice and dry toast in very small quantities worked. I sometimes couldn’t keep water down. Doctor did give me medication but I decided to not take it due to the risks

vvvvvvf · 12/09/2019 22:10

Before people start sending me absusive messages - there’s nothing wrong with taking medication, it’s your choice and lots of people take it so ask your doctor if you really feel like you can’t cope

Oh forgot to mention acupuncture worked really well for me. Good luck with your pregnancy. I really feel for you. I was literally sick from week 5/6 to the birth. You might see a difference in second trimester.

I'm the same with toothpaste, on and off. I got some toothpaste tabs from Lush, you basically chew them and then you're supposed to brush. Sometimes I can handle the brushing but when I can't, it feels good just to chew them and kind of rinse my teeth a little. When I can't do any of that, I chew some gum. Pregnancy is sooo glam, amirite...

Thanks for all of the replies ladies. It just feels so odd feeling sick over such ridiculous things. But at least I'm not alone!
