Varicocele - successful pregnancy stories??

My partner got diagnosed with a varicocele earlier this year. Doctor said it doesn't appear to look like it'd cause infertility but as we weren't TTC at the time he said not to worry about it. Just wondering if anyone has managed to get pregnant with a Varicocele without having the operation to remove it? Thanks x

My partner had this, we had to have IVF (ICSI) due to this as surgery was not an option for him as it wasn't likely to enable him to get me pregnant naturally

My husband had this. We have 3 children. Good luck

Yes, after child 1 but before child 2.

Thanks all that's really good news. The internet didn't have many success stories and all seemed pretty negative!

@MrsB899 did your husband have any treatment or were you just extremely lucky to conceive with no problems? Smile

Yes. Mine discovered a varicocele. Then a few years later, discovered testicular cancer in the other one. So he was left with only one ball, with a varicocele.

When he got the cancer diagnosis we went into panic mode, talking about sperm banking etc, but the doctors just told us not to worry about it. (No chemo needed.)

We conceived DD1 first month and I just got pregnant again on the 3rd month. So it clearly isn't affecting him.

My husband had a varicocele diagnosed when he was 17- he was told to go back to the doctor when he was thinking of trying for children. He went back to the doctor at 36 and had sperm tests - all fine. I am now 35 weeks pregnant and we conceived at about month 4 (once I had worked out ovulation dates so nothing to do with him!). The first step is for him to go to his GP so he can be referred for fertility testing.
